"Hyrule Warriors" Announced Today via Nintendo Direct

So Nintendo announced today that "sometime in 2014" they'll be releasing a new Zelda-themed game (though apparently not an "official installment" in the Zelda series). They're working in conjunction with Tecmo Koei to make a Dynasty Warriors-type game... only with Zelda.

Hmmm....not sure how I feel about this, but figured I'd just open a thread in case anyone wanted to chat about it -- also, since Nintendo is notorious for releasing region-locked type exclusives, I figured if anyone hears anything related to this release, we could post it here!

I haven't played a bad Zelda game yet (well, maybe except the CDi ones), so here's to hoping! ;)

I'm very skeptical about this. There is no reason to get hopes up unless you are warriors fan. Trailer showed some pretty generic and unfinished gameplay. I'm big Zelda fan and ofc i'll take a look at this when its released but... it does not look anything special at all at the moment.

Maybe the CDi ones? It's ok we can all accept those for what they were...

But this game looks like dumb fun so no complaints here :)

I'm amazed at how many comments I've seen on various message boards about this where people are absolutely going crazy about how excited they are -- quite a few "NOW I've got a reason to get the Wii-U" comments out there too. Seems like it could be fun, and certainly better than "Links Crossbow Training" but I really hope they're going to do something with those graphics - it looks like its running on an N64 ;)

if it's handled by 3rd party..just like Metroid other M was third party..then expect game to be lackluster and way off base then what we are accustomed too..this game will be bargain binned.

Don't know what I think of this. Not really a hack and slash fan, so yeah. Will see how I feel about it when more pre-release footage and trailers come out.

I used to be a big fan of dynasty warriors when I was younger, and have always been a big fan of the Zelda series. I really hope this will turn out to be something special =)

I have always had a special place in my hear for Dynasty Warriors, and I love Zelda (not as much as a lot of people here) so I am actually looking forward to this lol.

If I see a Wii-U under 150...I might just have to pull the trigger after this comes out.

Just like this game. Its quite boring and doesnt look like a lot of fun. Sure the N fan boys will go bat shit crazy over it saying its the best game ever ONLY cause Zelda is attached to the label. Didnt see that happen when Dynasty Warriors came out...
Just like the Mario cat suit, me thinks this game will be crap...its like they cant think of anything better to do but waste time and money on creating something so... trivial.

I dont see the problem at least the games work and are fun if there your thing. IT it works and sell why not do it change the formula add more. Its no different then pokemon all the time sure not everyone will like and some will grow tired of it so people want something different others don't. Market what sell and mario cat suit its cool because it works and something different in mario at least.

I just think the cat suit is lame. Whats next a dog suit?
Just think they could have thought of something more original like the tanooki suit.
