They are graded games from VGA, a company that grades video games then seals them in those boxes for an exorbitant fee, similar to graded/slabbed comic books.

Link to their site: http://www.vggrader.com/

You can buy the boxes separately without having the game graded from VGA, or from their UK equivalent UKG : link here http://ukgraders.co.uk/58-video-games-slide-bottom-display-cases/

-EDIT- w00t 1000th post :)

No they dont sell the graded games, people send them games to grade, then they assign a grade to the game, seal it in those boxes, then send the game back to the owner.

No they dont sell the graded games, people send them games to grade, then they assign a grade to the game, seal it in those boxes, then send the game back to the owner, at which point they turn around and attempt to sell it for exorbitant amounts on eBay.

Fixed. ;)

Yes these are graded games for VGA.

Essentially they are acrylic cases meant to protect and preserve sealed video games. VGA (also known as CGA for action figures) grade the game's condition using strict criteria, and seal the game up in these cases to preserve the grade. If you're in the market to buy a sealed copy of a rare game, you can tell straight away what you are getting and how mint it is, and bid accordingly. Higher grades = higher prices!

If you are interested in learning more about VGA or sealed games, there is a special forum dedicated to such things called www.sealedgameheaven.com (http://www.sealedgameheaven.com), where many of the sealed game collectors there are avid fans of VGA grading, and have some of the most awesome graded collections you will ever see!
