View Full Version : Bloodborne rant! I want to complain about the CE price.

This is officially fucking silly.
Here in Canada, the CE is $100, $30 more than our already outrageous base price of $70 ($80 for you US folks, bumped up $20 from $60). Despite having the same cost of living as our US counterparts...
For what? A steelbook, artbook and *digital* soundtrack. Not even a physical CD. These are fucking pre-order type bonuses. This is the type of stuff you get from Gamestop when you put $5 down to reserve your copy, not for paying another 1/3 the cost of the game. In fact, this is exactly what we got (plus a little more) for pre-ordering Dark Souls 1. That same price for Dark Souls 2 got us all that, plus a god damned statue and other things. Those aren't even rare occurrences, damn near most of my pre-orders have free bonuses like that (or so my bookshelf filled with these little artbooks would lead me to believe).
I thought when I missed out on the Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition and had to track it down years later that I would never miss another CE again, but this is just too much.
Hype aside, anyone else feel this way?

Huh? All games are $70 here now due to how weak the cad is. We're paying pretty much the same for regular games, and $10 more for the CE. That really isn't too bad imo, especially when you look at what Europeans seem to have to deal with.
As for the contents, yeah I'd say it's a bit overpriced.

I'm not comparing US to Canada, I'm simply mentioning the increases across the board.
$30 for a steelbook/artbook is fucking outrageous.

Well I think the $80 US price is fine. We're really only paying $10 (us) more than that so it's not /terrible/. That's my rationale for pre-ordering it at least lol.

Haha, man, have you gotten your Sunday coffee into you yet?
Let's just focus on the Canadian price from here on out. $100 for a mini-artbook and a steelbook with the game is nuts. That's like $115 after tax. I'm happy you're getting it so that I can at least see one haul post on here, but even though these are my favourite games (since King's Field), there's no way I'm getting roped into this one.
Granted I know the lot of us here hold CE's to a certain standard, but even objectively this is the most pathetic labeling of "Collector's Edition" I've seen in recent memory.
I weep for a future where a 30% price increase only gets us a steelbook.

youre also trying to compare demons souls and dark souls 1 ce's to each other which i think is why youre having a hard time. they were published by different companies, not to mention the dark souls 1 tin and artbook were garbage. demons souls ce was well worth the 20 and so is bloodborne ce. also, considering how much the demons souls ce's sell for and you said you had to hunt that down, im not sure what the problem is. the way i see it is this is an upgrade from the demons souls ce that its modeled after, instead of getting a physical soundtrack which no one cares about, we're getting a steelbook, which everyone is obsessed with collecting them.

Haha, I don't know why you're complaining, try buying in Australia. None of the stores even have a listing for the CE yet, which is why I preordered from Amazon.
But as a comparison, our standard edition is $100 RRP, if we do get a CE, I'm sure it'll be around the $120-$130 mark.

Australians pay the most followed by Africa (I think?).
Australian's pay DOUBLE the price AND we get less stuff than the US version.
