Legend of "Zelda" (the Hero) Hardcover Book + Art Prints

Hey everyone. I know this isn't an "official" licensed piece, but it is really a stellar-looking piece and at a great price for what it is.

Some of you may remember the artist who produced the "Guide to Kanto" artbook for the Pokemon games, well she's just released the "Legend of the Hero" Compendium.

It's basically a "world history" book about many (all?) of the Zelda races/locations/characters put together with stunning Art. There's a special hardcover edition and also a set of 8 artist prints representing 8 different Zelda games.

As its not official, there are no officially copyrighted terms (i.e. "Zelda" "Triforce", etc. etc.) in it, but it looks like she gets pretty close and still captures the world well.

Simply put, this is a stunning fan-created (albeit professionally done) work that really will be a nice gem in any Zelda-fan's collection. While I didn't get an exact figure on a run-size, it is definitely not "mass marketed" and so get it while you can.

Yeah, I don't usually go for fan made things either, but after seeng it and chatting with the creator I decided it was a must buy! Looks like a lot of work went into it for sure! I may be trying to put together an interview with her as well for a blog I sort of have a "role" in ;) , I'll be sure to share the results if we work something out!

Well, technically it's an order, as she just got hers in today, but no one else has them yet and said ours would be shipped next week - may be why it says 6-12 days or something with the "free" shipping.

I'm sure she'd love it if you bought both, but if you're doing it because of the covers, I clarified with her and the picture I included in this post IS of the Hardcover edition, the green cover (on the HC edition) is a dust jacket that is identical to the paperback cover edition (but includes the inventory poster on the other side). So you get BOTH cover-arts on the HC edition technically! :thumb:

I just got mine! Absolutely gorgeous. It was triple bubble mailer wrapped, so I don't notice any damage.

Question, though. The information for the hardcover edition mentions "Gold foil bookplate autographed by the author/illustrator." Anyone found this yet? I've looked in the front and back and have found no bookplate.

I talked to the creator on Twitter before I found it. They said it could've accidentally been left out and to contact customer service if it had.

Apparently my copy has come in but I have to wait till Christmas to open it. Definitely came in a bubble mailer (not sure if multiple) as opposed to a box, not sure if any damage, not sure if bookmark was included. Fingers crossed!

So just wanted to check, but did everyone receive an actual "gold metal plate" signed by the Artist? I just ended up getting a golden sticker signed by her after contacting them to let them know mine wasn't originally included? Thought that "bookplate" meant "metal" but maybe that was just my quick reading and mistake? Did everyone end up getting the sticker? :scratch:


Edit: Also, anyone who was wanting to actually translate the text written in the book. It (after much searching on my part) is NOT written in any of the Hylian language scripts, according to FG, "The text is written in WW script, which is based on Japanese with a different set of characters." ;)

A bookplate is just a stick that goes on the inside cover of a book. No metal involved. :P

A bookplate, also known as ex-libris [Latin, "from the books of..."], is usually a small print or decorative label pasted into a book, often on the inside front cover, to indicate its owner.

Can finally update you guys. :D

Mine came shipped inside two bubble mailers. For reference, the dust jacket is not perfectly mint, but plenty good enough for me being that this book is a fan made item I plan to use rather than leave sealed. The elusive gold bookplate was included in the little bag of extras that came included. There was also a sticker, pin, collectible card, and an ad for other fangamer merch.
