View Full Version : The Order 1886 Blackwater Edition - Differences between two of the same UK CE!

I initially pre-ordered The Order 1886 Blackwater Edition back in 2014 when it was first announced. Back then it was touted as a GAME exclusive, but somewhere along the way it became a trade-wide release and GAME secured the SteelBook as an exclusive instead.

Fast forward to last week, when my Blackwater Edition shipped from GAME and I was billed £79.99. All seemed fine until a listing on Zavvi's website caught my eye for the exact same item, albeit priced at only £64.99! After unsuccessfully pleading with GAME to offer me a partial refund, I decided that the best course of action would be to purchase another one from Zavvi and then return the first one to GAME for a full refund

For reference:

GAME (£79.99) - http://www.game.co.uk/en/the-order-1886-blackwater-edition-301652

Zavvi (£64.99) - http://www.zavvi.com/games-ps4/the-order-1886-blackwater-edition/11083677.html

However...

The Zavvi one arrived this morning, but as I was photographing the two side-by-side I noticed several subtle differences!

Here's a link to my Flickr album for The Order 1886, which I suggest you guys check out before reading further:

----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----

The first difference I spotted was the yellow spot printed on the front of the second CE. I'm not quite sure what this signifies, but there has got to be a reason for it

Secondly, I noticed that the barcodes on each CE were different. The first one (from GAME) is 711719814214, whereas the second one (from Zavvi) is 711719832713!

The CUSA codes on the spines are also different for some bizarre reason - The first being CUSA-00670/P and the second one being CUSA-00076/C!

That's not all! There's a code in the bottom right-hand corner on the back which is different as well! The first is 7026537, whereas the second one is 7026552!

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for these differences, and both appear to be equally as legitimate as the other. My only guess is that one is perhaps intended to be for sale outside of the UK in mainland Europe, but if that were the case then why would both be fully English? I am certainly curious about why one has a yellow spot printed on the front (coincidentally the cheaper one from a retailer who is known for selling European stock in the UK market), and also why the CUSA codes would be different...

If anyone can offer any explanations, then please feel free! I only really want to keep one of these, but want to make sure it's the right one with the correct barcode for the UK

With yellow point = EU-Version, Gamedisk with all languages
Without yellow point = UK-Version, Gamedisk ONLY with english language

Sony did this treatment for almost all their games the last few years. (TLOU, Uncharted 3, Beyond etc.)

Has anyone noticed any similar occurrences with other PlayStation exclusive titles?

Are you sure?
I remember that yellow dot is on games for sale on United Arab Emirates market but only on games published by SCEE (you can find that dot also on PS2 and PS3 games)

So are we saying that the yellow dot indicates stock intended for sale in the Middle East PAL market?

In which case, why are Zavvi selling them?

If I'm not mistaken, the United Arab Emirates get their own editions. But I am not entirely sure, maybe there are different arabic markets? I have Infamous Second Son in four different versions:

German -> USK rating, german text
UK -> Pegi rating, english text
EU -> Pegi rating, english text, yellow point
Arabic -> pegi rating, arabic and english text

I'm guessing they want another english version for english speaking countries with more dubs and subtitles on the disk, because the english uk version just has english audio and english subtitles only (dunno why) while the other editions have all dubs and subtitles. So it could fit to your theory.

Probably it's cheapier and they got them earlier? I'm seeing this for some austrian stores aswell, they got this "EU-Versions" way more earlier than other editions. gameware.at for example got The Order EU-Version two weeks before the release date, the other versions, UK & AT just one week before. And if you are looking for unboxing videos on youtube, you may notice that the first ones are always from some arabic people.

GameStop.co.uk are also fond of selling non-UK PAL versions in the UK market, which is why I stopped buying from them. ShopTo.net do sometimes, but it's not as commonly done by them as much as it is the companies which operate from outside of the UK mainland.
