View Full Version : Claptrap in a Box Inconsistancy!

Hi all,
When Game.co.uk announced they were selling the claptrap in a box edition I bought another two. One for PS4 and one for Xbox one. So I now own 4 but the aim is to have two, one to keep sealed and one for me!
Now, when I looked at my USA version, I noticed the PS4 / Xbox logo on the box and the UK version doesn't have that. The UK version comes with the game in a seperate box...
I decided to watch a few unboxings and the UK version steelbooks do not come sealed! Now in afraid to open anything as I'm intentially leaving it all sealed up, but part of this edition is a collectors edition of the game disc. If I was a betting man, I would say the version game.co.uk has sold contains a regular game! Has anyone opened one to confirm this?
Also, I'd be willing to since 1) these versions are clearly different and 2) the number of steelbook son sale through ebay right now: that these versions that game are selling are outside of the initial 5,000 copies allocation! What on earth is going on? I Think I'm going to take these Game.co.uk versions back as I simply do not trust them. What's the point in owning a sealed collectors edition if 1) it doesn't contain the collectors edition disc! And 2) the game isn't even inside the sealed part! I'm furious at game.co.uk

Um not sure what you are ranting. It is not uncommon that Pal version is different than the U.S. Version. Not the first time it happened and most likely they did not make more than 5000 since that is the production run of the claptrap.
Australia version is the same as uk, where the game is separate on its own and the steel book is not sealed. Most likely due to the different game rating and language of pal territory that it is pckagaed that way

If you read my post again, you'll see I'm "ranting" because this edition includes a limited edition of the game disc. In the version we received in the UK the game came seperately and so I think I'm being fairly sensible in being concerned that I might not of got a limited edition disk!?
I'm trying to find someone who has opened one from game to find out, because I have 28 days to return it and in my opinion, if it does not contain the limited edition version of the game it's not worth keeping one mint in box and it's probably not even worth the £289.99 that game.co.uk are charging

I totally understand what you are saying but I am telling you the content are all the same. Including the game disc printing.

North American version unboxing of Xbox One version, you will notice they just put the standard game and manual into the ironpak and sealed it.
Unfortunately, there is no limited edition disc.

Thanks for your quick responses and I sure hope you are right! When the original claptrap-in-a-box advert was launched and it was originally advertised, some of the adverts show a limited edition of the game disc.
Now, maybe this game disc didn't happen, but as collectors we all know how fussy someone can be looking for a BNIB or Mint item, so if somebody can confirm that there is no special disc in any of them, in the word s of claptrap "that would be swell"
All this fuss is just because I'm gonna take one for the team and avoid the temptation of opening this box to be "that guy" that kept one Mint in Box :)

Pretty sure that video confirms the disc is not a special edition of the disc.

Sorry, as I am pretty sure I'm coming over like a C**T but so are you, so...
No! The unboxing of one item does not confirm that the other 4,999 copies in the world are the same!
Especially when there are many difference between different versions becoming apparent worldwide.
In fact, it suggest to anyone with half a brain cell, that looking into what these differences are by asking people who have opened them might reveal more information.
If you've opened a copy of like to hear from you!
If your an opinionated idiot that thinks that every version is the same, then p*** off because you know anything and your already wrong, lol

You are right, you do come off as a cunt. Especially because I wasn't rude at all.
But you know, just assume the contents of every single package of anything ever created is different from the exact same item. For all we know, two packages of white socks could be completely different! Be that idiotic.

Well, you were rude. You just didn't realise it!
The company that made this is the one advertising a special edition of the disc! Does anyone else not think it's odd that they suddenly decided to not do it and didn't say a word about it!?
If that's fine in all your opinions then they could of made a fortune by just deciding not to put the claptrap in couldn't they!?
Since no-one here seems to be on my side, is there anyone in this forum that's heard of false advertising, or better still that has a version with what the manufacturer of the product said they were going to supply? IE - the collectors edition disc? lol
Please note I'm not angry, the lol's integrated in my posts here are because im finding the responces so far extremely funny. And of course I'm an idiot! I just spent £289.99 on something that didn't come as advertised! But don't worry I already took one back for a full refund! Lmfao

Where was it ever advertised that there was a special edition of the disc? I've looked all over the internet and ever picture and description of the contents shows/says nothing about a special disc.

On this very website for a start...
On the homepage the picture of the claptrap in a box edition shows a different disc.
In the contents description it says steelbook with handsome collection disc (never seen before artwork)
Now whilst that may seem vague in conjunction with the picture it seems to suggest the disc will be different not the steelbook...
But if you don't agree you will find in plain English on the 2K website contents the words "unique game disc artwork"
I'm probably barking up the wrong tree though! I give up!

The artwork refers to the steelbook. The Handsome Collection disc is the game disc. The disc you see is the exact same disc in the video, it just doesn't have the Xbox One header on the disc (or PS4 header). The steelbook has different artwork compared to the regular game case.
The 2K website says "Collectible Steel Case with special artwork not seen on regular packaging. COLLECTIBLE." Once again, this refers to the case, not the disc.
There is no collectible disc. End of story.

First of all, respect and thanks for your research and dedication. Don't think I'm being alkward in just looking for the truth. Now I know for a fact I saw an unboxing where the disk was different, but it was before the release... I think it was IGN. I'm gonna look for it now and it I find it I will post it as a responce... If I cant I shall admit you are indeed correct and I apologise for my previous comments!

IGN didn't do the unboxing until the game was released.
ive been following the clap trap in a box edition since it was first announced on PS blog, and I've never seen anywhere stated there's a different game disc.

so have you found the 'truth' yet, my friend?
waiting on your responce
looks like people have started posting unboxings on youtube, and the disc sure don't look any special to me
sorry to say, David, but it seemed like there is some sort of language barrier, and you probably misunderstood 2k's website description.

Can I just say, nobody came over as a c##t here other than the OP, David Howells, who has tainted a simple question by embarrassingly accusing people of being c##ty when they weren't.
I've got the UK version of the Claptrap edition. You don't deserve to know the answer to your question, Mr Howells, from the way you've behaved in this thread. But as I don't want to come across all c##ty like you, the answer is that the UK edition came with the sealed "standard" edition disc, and the Steelbook unsealed and empty within the main box.
The way I read everything about this from the moment it was advertised was that the CASE would have different artwork. Never seen anything about the disc; wouldn't expect it; but if there was an early unboxing that DID have different disc art, likely it was a promo version of the disc before the artwork was finalised for release.
I would suggest that in future you try to improve your attitude towards fellow forum members when asking for their help. Nobody was out of line until you were; perhaps it is a language barrier issue as somebody suggested but you don't just bandy the word "cunt" around when asking for help.

Or you can just be happy you have 4 of them seeing as some people didn't even get a chance to buy one because people like you buy 4 of them

FYI, if you actually take a proper look, the claptrap-in-a-box edition from GAME.CO.UK is actually the XBOX version. I assume, normally, the game that comes with it is IN the box as well, but for ME, the game was outside the box. I checked the box itself and saw something concerning XBOX, so I honestly think there's a different version for PS4 and XBOX, whereas they probably removed the XBOXversions to get rid of more of these editions.
So it'd be interesting if you would actually get a special disc, because it'd be an XBOX disc instead of a PS disc.
