Now granted, "classy" isn't the first word that pops into my mind when I see little metal men -- in fact, it would probably be one of the last descriptors to come up -- but look at that slick art for the box/book/CD covers. I can picture an aged gentleman smoking a pipe by the fireplace while eying it thoughtfully.

When Civilization V journeys to retail outlets on September 21, you'll have the opportunity to get the $99.99 version in North America. Quite a jump in price, isn't it? This is what the extra cash gets you:

5 metal figurines by Reaper Miniatures
A 2-disc CD soundtrack
A behind-the-scenes DVD (oh joy!)
Most importantly, a 176-page hardcover art book
I for one will be respectfully passing on it. I dig Civilization, just not that much. Where do you stand?

So, only 7,500 of these special editions were produced? Wow, I guess this makes for a true collectors edition, then.

$99 is still a steep price for what's included, so I'll pass on this as well.

Dang I didn't realized it was extremely low quantity. None of my area has it. I guess I have to order it from Gamestop before it is gone.

$100 is not too much for this kind of low quantity special edition. Not even the package is poor...in contrary, it packs a lot. But $100 for PC game, although it is low quantity special edition...think not, not for me.

It's currently at GAME for £28 or $40.

Yup PC gaming don't sell as well as they used to. I believe the DRM, not able to resell it and high PC specs drive away gamers.

Yeah, my crappy PC couldn't even run Civ 5.

It would be interesting in the future if developer starts to have their game host in the cloud technology. So basically if you want to play the game, you can have the crappiest computer and still run it. It would be interesting if it can run on mobile device. Onlive is currently offering that service, but not as widespread.

Yeah on-live and cloud computing is the future. Low power consuming PCs in the home and office with the grunt work being done off site.

All we need is a fast internet connection, which sadly most of homes here in the UK don't have.

This is a win lose situation for us collector's though, it allows to finally play the game the way it was intended, but there is no physical copy.

Yeah, I always prefer to have a physical copy. I don't even have a Steam account yet. I feel like I'm the only one in the world.
