is 5000 copies really all that limited for a game? I mean, these games are mostly under the radar, indie games, and 5000 seems to be pushing the envelope.

Yes I would say it is pretty limited, but I wish they'd allow 2 per person at 5000.

I agree - 5000 is not really super limited when you put the titles overall fan appeal and the fact that it is available digitally on multiple platforms already. I think 2500 seems about right if they are going to limit it to one per person per platform.

It sold out on PS4 (after many hours), but if you look at how fast the Vita version was gone, that seemed more in tune with their market and target customer. Still, as long as it sells out that quickly, I guess they planned fairly well.

I think the biggest appeal to me of this company is that they say that it is just the one production run and that is it, no second printings and no "re-releases".

No point in allowing 2 copies per costumer if you can buy the games digitally. Let other people get a copy of the game instead. it doesn't matter if there are 5000 copies if each person gets 2. That would the the same as if there were only 2500.

That's a fair point, but for some it's a matter of preference. Particaly with the Vita games, since the price of the vita memory cards are so expensive, some people would prefer a physical copy.

You assume that everyone is like us and would buy 2 given the opportunity. Plus I don't really care about letting someone slower to checkout get a copy. I'd rather have 2 to improve my chances of getting one that is mint (and preferably without a loose disc).

Sure, but I've gone out of my way and made a thread here to ensure everyone knows when these are available and can get them if they want. If you're some casual collector who doesn't visit this site, too bad!

So more to my point then. Information about these games and their release times has been made adequately known, so I'm not going to feel bad for people who aren't fast enough.

Even a 5,000 copy run is still a very low number. Future potential as to going up in value is, as always, dependant upon the game itself and how well it is received by players. There are no doubt lots of games out there now that were absolutely terrible budget releases with fairly low, for their time, production runs and are pretty much under the radar and easy to obtain because they were generally very crappy games.

LRG's Approach is to offer true limited physical editions of games that have undergone tight quality control. This is actually pretty simple when you consider that every, or nearly every, game they have released and announced they will be publishing was already released asa digital only title. All the suckers who bought digital only in these cases did those of us who prefer physical copies the great favor of unknowingly conducting widespread beta testing so that the likely final version released on game cart will be a finely polished, hopefully bug free, edition of the game title.

I believe the only game they presently have announced as an upcoming title they will be publishing that isn't out yet in some etheral form or another is Cosmic Star Heroine, but the developers of that game do seem highly passionate about the project and have been conducting testing on the game as they go along, so hopefully there won't be any issues in the physical release version that will be serious enough to warrant patching.

Just ordered Xeodrifter (Vita). Not quite as fast of a first round sell out as we've seen with previous titles released, but then there had been a good number of people posting to LRG on Twitter and on their forums complaining that 4th of July was inconvenient for them. Looks to be sold out now though. On to round #2 at 6p.m. EST (GMT -5).

I certainly hope so, that's my favorite of the three cover arts. But read somewhere (can't recall where exactly) that if any were leftover from PSX they were likely going to either randomly send them, same as the other two cover variants, or use them as contest prizes.

LRG are doing a release for Sundered, and the kickstarter CE will have an exclusive version.

Here's some information on it from the most recent kickstarter update:

FAQ about the Collector's Edition

The reaction to our surprise announcement yesterday regarding the Sundered Collector's Edition has been overwhelmingly positive, but the announcement left a few unanswered questions that we'll address here:

The CA$ 100 'Eschaton Elder' tier still says "PC-only" - what gives? Sorry, Kickstarter locks the reward descriptions once the campaign is live, so we can't change the text. But this is a firm promise: the Kickstarter-exclusive Collector's Box of Sundered will include physical versions for both PS4 and PC!
When will the Collector's Box be available? Will it contain the promised DLC? We can't give a firm date for production of the physical version at this time, but the general feeling around here is that the Kickstarter-exclusive collector's box should be the "Definitive Edition" of Sundered, and therefore should include future DLC in the box. This will necessarily make the Collector's Box release date later rather than sooner (because it must wait until after the DLC release), so we'd like you to express your thoughts about this in the comments, please!
Will there be a regular physical edition of Sundered? Not in the Kickstarter campaign, no. But Limited Run Games has announced that a regular physical edition will be produced further down the line! It'll likely look something like this:
Later on, Limited Run will produce a regular physical version of Sundered too! Later on, Limited Run will produce a regular physical version of Sundered too!

Wait, will the Collector's Box just contain that regular box inside? No, the Collector's Box will have a unique, Kickstarter-exclusive outer box and a unique Kickstarter-exclusive art on the blu-ray case inside too!
Why did you guys wait until 2 days before the end of the campaign to announce this? I can't commit to a 100$ purchase on such short notice! Yeah, sorry about that guys - we'd been working on it all this time, and contracts were signed a few hours before we posted the news. But here's the good news:

We've added the Collector's Box tier to our Humble Store page, and the Humble page will be open for an extra week!
You can purchase the Collector's Box on Humble until Feb. 23rd! You can purchase the Collector's Box on Humble until Feb. 23rd!

Our Kickstarter campaign closes at 6pm EST tomorrow, but we'll be keeping the Humble Store page open for a week longer, until 6pm EST on February 23rd! To confirm, the $99.99 purchase on the Humble Store page gets you the exact same rewards as the 100$ Eschaton Elder tier on our Kickstarter.

Ah thanks for that info. I wonder if it would be wise to save my reward points for a variant cover for a game I'm more interested in.

i'm going to go on a little rant here..i am really really getting "burnt out" on these "limited releases" of games in small quantities...it's leaning towards shovelware, and the novelty is wearing off..when Retro City Rampage DX was released on PS4 physical, or when Saturday Morning RPG was released on physical..it was exciting, because they were obscure, flew under the radar, hard to comprehend,. that official SONY PS4 games in such small numbers were sanctioned and endorsed by SONY made collecting for PS4 fun, and it was like having an "easter egg" of a game on display in your collection...a conversation piece..and now, these limited games, are going the way of steelbooks, the "buzz" is waning, it's getting diluted..the whole limited press of games is getting diluted as other companies are jumping in, and the "taboo, and mystery" of it is diminishing as the idea of having a physical copy of a game with a small print run, is no longer a pipe dream..at least a majority of PS4 gamers will end up having some game in their library purported to be "rare" whether from limited run, special reserve, play asia, signature edition, iam8bit..i mean the FLOODGATES are opening up!!!!!!!!!!!!...just like STEELBOOK exploded onto the scene, becoming a very common site..diminishing the appeal..i think the appeal to collectors like "rare", "extra special" "ooh ahhh" etc..is gonna become an epic fail, and one day soon..these companies will be SITTING ON EXCESS STOCK..as there releasing A LOT and just like amiibo, just like steelbook, they gonna be languishing on shelves if they keep multiplying and proliferating.

Generally their games are not numbered. However, they have produced two games that were numbered, Silver Case PC and Dariusburst PS4 LE.

I must concur with you wholeheartedly. Those first three (Retro City Rampage DX, Breach & Clear, and Saturday Morning RPG) were quite exciting releases, especially for me, in a sense Breach & Clear, not because I was actually looking forward to the game so much as I sincerely believed in what the game represented to the gaming community as a whole if Mighty Rabbit Studios (aka Limited Run Games) could pull it off. And then they did, and then my enthusiasm for Saturday Morning RPG was all the more exciting since it was a game I actually looked forward to playing.

Since that time we have seen a mix of game types released by LRG, with some leaning considerably toward games that would have been better appreciated on previous generations of hardware. Which is to say that there wasn't actually anything wrong with the games themselves, only that they were more homage to the bygone days of 8-bit & 16-bit gaming and sadly failed and were found to be a bit underwhelming. And again, I don't hate the games and will not name any names lest I be accussed of such, but said types of titles I'm talking about would have doubtless been better received as classic console releases where they would have doubtless garnered a much better deserved reception. Instead though, they made their physical release debute on the most powerful dedicated handheld system of the era, where even I must confess I would like to have seen the developers make better utilization of the system hardware.

Now the game for the Vita which is on sale today (they still have inventory available as of time of this posting definitely makes better usage of the system hardware, not that I'm certain that I even would totally care quite as much where a space shooter is concerned. Reason it is selling slowly though is due to the price, a issue which the fellow at LRG have made repeatedly clear to everyone that they have no control over. The game developer gets to set the MSRP on all titles that they publish, and in this case Degica Games set the price to match what they sell the game for as a digital download through PSN. Is it a steep price? Absolutely. But then I would prefer to pay a steep price for a physical copy than pay a steep price for a download... not that I would buy the download version, but you get the picture I think.

Moving forward, LRG's CEO Josh recently announced that they have new criteria any games presented to them by devs for consideration to publish in the future must meet, and if they do not meet those criteria they will turn them down. On the plus side they eluded to this decision being partly in response to the outcry on their own forums from established customers concerning the disgust over so many retro-style games being published by them in recent months. And LRG Doug responded to a Tweet shortly after this announcement by Josh that the games which they would be announcing and showing at E3 were all signed for publication prior to the creation of their new criteria policy, meaning pre-acknowledgment that some games would be forthcoming that do not meet up with consumer standards for what the majority of their customers want t osee more of from them. This is a positive in the long run and lends hope that we will be seeing more games befitting of the systems that they are publishing for announced from this point onward.

No where this gets bizarre is with the recent partnership deal (clearly not listened to Dave Ramsey) that LRG has signed onto with, technical competitor, "Special Reserve Games" (SRG). If all has been understood correctly, and I believe it has, games rejected by LRG for publication under their new criteria policy can be passed along to SRG for secondary publishing consideration. Meaning even with LRG assuring they will only publish games meeting or exceeding certain standards in the future, they via SRG will still wind up selling us those games, only under the SRG label. THis is where the burnout will doubtless come into effect for us all.

FanGamer, which handled sales and distrobution of Retro City Rampage DX is another story altogether. I had originally worried they wouldn't do anymore games, thankfully they are not only doing more releases, they are staggering them out to the point that as to almost bring one to question if they are or are not releasing anything else again, LoL! They have released just one game a year during the previous two years, and have just one game announced for release this year. I am pleased to say that I do not forsee "burnout" occuring as a result of FanGamer, even though one can blame them with partial responsibility for this entire Limited Print Edition game fiasco to begin with.

Now we have a relatively new contender from R3 (Southeast Asia). East Asia Soft, who has partnered up with PlayAsia to handle the sales and distribution of all their limited edition releases. East Asia Soft is now a major contender in the limited print run games quandry, moreso than any other thanks to the partnership with PlayAsia.com. THey have already released two (3?) games through PlayAsia with another two presently announced.

And from part of the world that brought us The Crusades, we now have two new contenders in the limited edition release racket; Badland Games and Signature Edition Games (SGE). Badland Games is set to have their first limited Vita release next month (July), but have, thankfully, made it clear that the same said game has a R1 (U.S.A. & Canada) publishing partner that will be doing a limited physical release for R1 at a later time. SGE on the other hand appears to be going for world exclusitivty rights, and earlier this month began shipping their second release (their 1st for the Vita), "Slain: Back from Hell".

Further complicating matters has been Nippon ichi Software America (NISA) of all publishers doing limited physical releases of select of their own titles, and select titles under a partnership with Tecmo Koei! While the quality of the limited physical edition titles so far offered by NISA has never yet been lacking, the single most deserved complaint has been the staggering pricetags on the Tecmo Koei titles, a issue for which they apparently listened to customers concerning with the latest of said releases, where both a standard and box set version of the limited phytsical edition game were both offered.

So we now have to watch out for limited print run edition releases from all of the following publishers.:

Badland Games
East Asia Soft (EAS)
FanGamer
Limited Rung Games (LRG)
Nippon Ichi Software America (NISA)
Signature Edition Games (SEG)
Special Reserve Games (SRG)

Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours (Vita) Just sold out within the last hour. Despite heafty criticism all around the internet concerning the price point at which this game was being offered at ($49.99 US) the game still managed to sell out in a shorter time than some of the previous Vita game titles which LRG has published that were at similar production run numbers and... half the price!

LRG's CEO Josh has acknowledged via Twitter that this was a successful sale and has served as proof to other Japanese companies they are courting publishing deals with that they have a consumer base which will buy Vita games even at a $49.99 price point. No word as to whom these other JP publishers may be, but is very important to note two of these four factors (1 and 3) concering Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours.
1. Kadakowa Games was the Japanese physical release publisher. 2. Kadakows Games has published a total-to-date of thirty-one Vita games in Japan. With this one making the fifth of said game titles to be re-licensed and have a physical release in R1.
3. Taito was the game's developer. 4. Taito is a wholly owned subsidiary of Square Enix.

I think anyone can see why this game selling successfully is such a big deal in the long run for LRG.

Also worht noting that we learned months ago that the LRG cover variant of Sharin no Kuni will retail for $49.99 whenever it is released.

companies like V blank are well aware, they cater to the collector mindset, the collector fan base..so i don't know why they act oblivious to it, and publish a "bare bones" edition of the game, with just a disc..why does it take soo much effort to get a manual? or a free decal or something to make it a little bit more special...another thing that could happen is a proliferating and explosive growth of these "limited, exclusive indy' style physical releases, where collectors get burned out, it loses it's allure, and the game's prices start crashing and become dump bin shovelwares...i can see now, that probably a year from now even more companies will step forward and shout "rare, exclusive, limited" and just churn out games...i'm gonna stop rambling now LOL..otherwise i'll just talk in circles.

On the Vita side of today's LRG sale, the "Fantasy Friday Bundle" which included both Asdivine Hearts and Ys Origins: Collector's Edition sold out in roughly one minute. Ys Origin: Collector's Edition and Asdivine Hearts, as stand alone products, each sold out in under three minutes. The second sale later today is likely to sell out even faster since LRG sets aside rougly just one-third of the available inventory for their 6p.m. EDT sales.

Ys Origin (standard edition) is LRG's first ever foray into a non-limited edition game which will be "mass produced" to fill all orders placed throughout this entire day, and is there first game with no order quantity limit restrictions in place. They've even noted in on the product page that if you order quantity 30 (thirty) you will receive a Sony factory sealed case as it arrived to them from the factroy.

All that said, I still do not see Ys Origin (standard edition) as a product that is going to sell a super high quantity, though likely will be more due to reseller's and private game stores buying inventory. I'm going to fare a guess that said game stores and high volume resellers will be the driving force behind the sale of this title today since Play-Asai has had the R3 version of the game up for pre-order now at the same price as the LRG version since February, and there was nearly three solid months Falcom had us all believing that the R3 release was going to be the only region getting a physical English language release of the game. Can attest I myself sill have the R3 edition on pre-order, and no reason to cancelling it since I ordered it while Play-Asia was running a promo sale and final price was only $24.99 (can always gift or trade it at that reasonable price).

That is a excelent point of topic. They changed their policy on this when they began negotiating with Japanese developers. Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours was LRG's first release that did not include any of the already available DLC. And should be noted that the total regular price to purchase all of the available DLC for this title is presently around $100, crazy!

Also looking ahead, LRG is set to publish several titles that are still either in development and/or localization phases. To publish such a title at launch and assume no errors will be discovered that require patching to resolve or that the publishers will not sneak out some manner of DLC six months after the fact is rather foolish. LRG has been forced to acknowledge this situation. It was one thing when they were releasing games that had already been out for a year or so, another story entirely with new releases.

Cosmic Star Heroine is a great example of a new release with issues to resolve before committing it to a game cartridge. Because Sony will not get off their high horse and make higher capacity game catridges available to developers, the devs are still stuck with having to find ways to put their games on non-compressed 4GB cartridges. Hence why many releases of the last twelve months have had "optional free audio add-on content" ranging from a couple hundred MegaBytes up to over three GigaBytes of needed memory card space to download, absurd! Or in the case of a certain R3 (SouthEast Asia) Gundam game release, because high-speed internet is not consistantly available across the R3 region, the game comes on two cartridges, a first ever! The first cart of this title being a installation cartridge that requires the user to have a minimum of four GigaBytes available free space on their Vita/PS TV memory card so that catridges' contents to install onto. And, then the second cartridge is the boot cart, and allegedly contains all of the audio and cinematic files for the game. Crazy stuff, but I'm far more accepting of this two-cart setup than needing to download 3GB of data on a day-one game purchase before I can play the game the way it was meant to be experienced.

i would rather publishers or game developers change the day one price from $59.99 to $79.99 and give us a COMPLETE GAME FROM DAY ONE..and put an end to DLC content..i am sick of it!!!..i mean..i am a physical collector..and i just hate things like Zelda Breath of the Wild..coming out on switch carts..and then two awesome expansion packs come out purely digital..imagine the gaming experience in the future if you popped in the switch cart, and everything was on it from the game plus the 2 DLC content packs..it would take the game on to another level!.so i would of preferred paying $79.99 upfront to have it all on one cart...i wish Nintendo would do "game of the year re-releases" i would of supported that route..for complete experiences like Mario Kart 8 deluxe...and pay more and then just have 2 versions..a vanilla version for $59.99 and a complete version for $79.99.

Many of the games do this.... a year or so after the fact. Hitman, Mafia 2, Dishonored, Bioshock... a few to name that got releases year or more afterwards that contained all the DLC.

I believe the point Twisted is getting at though is in the case of game like the one he specified, where the DLC was actually already ready for release before the game had itself even been released... which seems to be something Nintendo is really bad about.

Many games get DLC several months or even a year or more after the initial release of the base game itself because either the developers hadn't begun working on the new content yet at all or it was merely still in concept at the appointed release time for the games. But this utter BS where the game developer not only has planned for DLC expansion, but already has the DLC ready before the game has even hit the market is just foolish non-sense and a means to attempt skimming even more profits from already paying customers.

But yes, I like to wait and see if GOTY editions of such titles get released and then buy those. I will say though that EA is really terrible with their GOTY's per their reputation. I have had one personal experience with them thus far, and it was this year. I was debating between Star Wars: Battlefront (now with MSRP $19.99) and Star Wars: Battlefront: Ultimate Edition (MSRP $39.99). After carefully studying the descriptions on the back of each case I ended up just buying the regular edition, and boy was I glad I did that! All of the expansion content from the "Ultimate Edition" gets installed by default in the current 30+GB update patch for the game. And even if you bought the "Ultimate Edition", the back of the package indicates the three expansions are not included on the disc! This is EA just scamming shoppers for a extra $20.

But I rather agree with Twisted on the sentiment of prefering to have the whole game on purchase day, and not have to deal with the massive inconveniences that are DLC. And further, just waiting for a GOTY release that comes with the former DLC-only content already included and any bug patches already implemented.

I have never seen those cases. That's crazy that the devs/publishers would even do that. I know I have seen some games where they had to make a release date so some of the unfinished stuff got moved to DLC and released a month into it, which is bad enough.

At least it's not like Hitman: You get a shell of a game (3 levels) and then have to wait a year for a new level to get released every month :( No way a GOTY edition gets released then:pooryou:

the first rumored nintendo switch physical release from Limited Run is allegedly "Golf Story" which has RPG like elements and is a Nintendo switch exclusive digital release. the second rumored release is the digital game for switch FAST RMX...Limited run Doug gave an interview and said 2 of his top faves for Nintendo digtal released games are Golf Story and Fast RMX and the first physical release he can't tell us, but it'll be a "hole in one" so that pretty much is a giveaway clue..i believe those 2 will be the first ones out of the gates for the physical release of Switch games by Limited Run in 2018.

Another thing, Limited Run Doug pointed out, that with there Nintendo switch game carts, they want "to make them something special, something to show Nintendo we appreciate and love them"..so i assume collector's editions or manuals or cover variants etc. as well.

Limited Run Games first stated that they regretted NOT doing the 24 hour open pre order window format for WonderBoy like they did for Ys Origins on a trial basis, because demand was much stronger on WonderBoy then the copies released for sale, and limited run games felt regrettably they 'left money on the table"..today Nicalis USA announces mass release for the NTSC market at least for WonderBoy on PS4 and Switch...initially a reprint with a different publisher, now limited run games jumps in and states, "Oh we personally feel like we've satiated demand for PS4 Wonderboy, but it'll be nice to see it on switch"...i am NOT knocking on Limited Run..i purchase A LOT from them..but when official representatives makes conflicting statements, i have a question about credibility...i feel like when Limited Run Games did there Wonderboy sale, they DID seriously regret NOT PRINTING MORE!!!..and THAT IS WHY, they did the Ys Open Window pre order for 24 hours to be able to cash in on the opportunities..NOTHING wrong with that, it's a business.,,.of course,..i would aim for higher profits too..but when they jumped in today to DOWNPLAY and Discredit Nicalis effort to build hype for the PS4 release of Wonderboy i did find it a bit in poor taste, because the truth about limited run believing there offerings was on point and satiated demand..is FALSE, because they publicly stated so on social media..i just don't like it when companies official statments from their reps make twist and turns, and as a collector, it begins to bother me, because it is confusing the limited run mission statements, i would rather have them just stick to the original story, they regretted the lower print run for WonderBoy PS4 ..they would of wished they could print more at that time..and not say.."oh, we MET demand, we ARE satisfied with the run of PS4 WonderBoy games..which i would say is a "lie" ..just my 2 cents about flip flopping on social media about the games print run sizes.

PS4 game collector's do you view the Play-Asia titles as essential for PS4 Completionists if you live in North America? or even Europe for that matter? or do you look at them as strictly R3 ASIA region releases, and NOT like a subset or part of a NTSC set of PS4 games like Limited Run or V Blank etc...i feel like the lines are getting blurred..that Play Asia limited sets are aimed at USA/Europe Markets..i doubt it's intended first for Asia countries..."colleciting games" is not a big soiree in some ASIAN Markets due to marcoeconomics, usually most people settle for pirated games, and downloads and grey market purchases...i don't see the fervor in those nations for a small print run, they hype revolves around the western markets and their not aiming at there rivals Japan..the games have mostly english and asian options..

I see these limited run games not the company itself, but all these other brands as well..to be like in a bubble so to speak..i think at the end of the day, when we look back at these games...even though they would be more rare physical copies, some prices will rise for maybe games like SHANTAE from Limited Run..or Retro City Rampage from V Blank, but most will tank in value, they won't increase in value in our lifetimes..i like collecting games because i think a gameroom looks beautiful especially a large collection of games neatly organised and displayed, but i hate the thought that i paid $30 or more for a limited run..only to be found in some garage sale for $1 20 years from now, because the game is either poor quality or no one has interest in it..like limited run PANG BROTHERS, or limited run THOMAS WAS ALONE, or LAWBREAKERS...these will be NOT sought after..even if they were from set collectors, they would NOT value them more than $5 or $10 a piece...and just imagine in the next 2-3 years of PS4 lifespan HOW MANY MORE BATCHES OF LIMITED GAMES ARE GOING TO COME OUT?..I SAY TRIPLE THE AMOUNT!!!!!!!!!!..what is available now on the market that had a limited run of the physical copies, market saturation is never good..look at STEELBOOK, the EXPLOSIVE GROWTH in the past 5 years has REDUCED the allure and luster of having a steelbook offering which were looked at like GEMS..5-6 years ago..and now they are even TRASHED in garbage like packaging by some people who just want the movie, or game etc.

The only ones I've seen sell for significantly more than RRP are Breach and Clear Vita, the PS4 version of Saturday Morning RPG, the Shantea games and the first Oddworld game.....Most of which I offloaded except for SMRPG PS4 which I'm keeping as I'm collecting PS4 games and I think this is one of the most rare (Yeah I know call me a scalper if you want, but I only got one copy of each) . I also have Night Trap PS4 for nostalgia reasons, I remember the uproar about that game back in the day.....God I feel old :(

I'll buy a LRG game if it takes my fancy but most are not great games IMHO.

Another thing about LRG is the amount of loose discs, but I think that's a PS4 problem in general, maybe not even limited to PS4, whoever is making the bluray G2 size cases is cutting corners.

I keep wondering if these games will be sought after later down the line. Yes they are limited and rare but is the nostalgia factor there? Is anyone going to be nostalgic about 'Thomas was alone' or 'Firewatch'?

I bought into the first wave of these games (then sold them on except for a couple) but now I will only buy one if it interests me.

Purposely making stuff rare doesn't necessarily make them sought after.

Sorry for the rant.

It will suck having to buy extra variants for games I'm interested in, but overall I will end up buying a lot more of their releases if this is the case. It would be a significant cost reduction for Canadians ($20+ in shipping per order to free).

Also, they should have made this like many other titles. "Preorder by x date and you will receive one". I hate this kind of crap.

In fact this was, to my knowledge, the first time where they kept the release a secret until the day of. Normally we know what the release is and when it will go live a week in advance (always Fridays 10AM and 6PM EST).

Lots of people are complaining because they didn't get one. I get it but...its called LIMITED RUN games for a reason folks! While most CE's these days are mass produced and drop in value, its nice to see a company releasing some real collector's items. A set of 4 sweet-looking CE's, super rare, and if we collect them all we get a bonus item? As a collector, I love this kinda stuff.

So yeah I'm going against the grain here and praising LRG for how they handled this release.

Maybe 1 per customer next time though.

I agree - 1, maybe 2 per customer (I always like to open 1 CE and save another in sealed condition if possible). Also agree on keeping it a secret - too many scalpers and people have calendars lined up with CE's they'll buy like this just because they know it'll be limited. If they don't know, they can't buy them and saves the CE for real collectors.

I personally prefer the "Pre-order on x date to get a copy" method. It's still very limited and people can only blame themselves for not keeping up with gaming product news. But I truly hate very limited products like this for a huge franchise. Most people will be ready and still cannot get one. Also, if you plan to do something like this, make it ONE per customer. You do not need two for any reason. Most people will pretend to not open one (which is still ridiculous in my opinion. If a majority cannot get one, you do not need two) but instead they will just scalp it on eBay.

Also, how about not showing the product on the official PlayStation blog? I mean, seriously, that just adding fuel to the fire. It would sell out very fast even without that blog post. Now people who don't even follow Limited Run products are trying to get one.

Of course there's a reason for getting two - open one and enjoy the hell out of it, and keep one sealed for down the road if you need to fix or replace something from the original. I don't mind spending 2x on a CE if its really nice and I plan on keeping it - I use the hell out of my Mafia 3 CE coasters, and when they go to hell I'll open up the 2nd package and get 10 more years of use.

Sadly I had to shell out for the Mega Bundle as I missed the CE on its own and didn’t want to take the chance with the waitlist. :(

So I’m at 2 for 2 so far. Fingers crossed I get better luck with the last 2. :thumb:

These will likely be my last LRG purchases too.

Same here, had to go for the bundle as well. Not to bad as it’s cheaper than some have been in the past.

since i missed out on the first bundle, or collector's edition for JAK 1..i decided to just stick with the standard copies of the game..what i'm still looking forward to is, that free bonus "mock up" box, that ONLY those that buy all 3 JAK games for PS4 from limited run will get..that will be a nice keepsake, if it's done like in a official SONY game box, with PS4 logo's and professional quality printed cover sheet. if it's officially endorsed mock up box, by Naughty Dog etc..then i'd say it' would be a very nice shelf display box piece.

if limited run games is labeling that outer clamshell shock box as 001..i bet there gonna release successive NEO GEO games on PS4 and each of them will have a collector's edition with the clamshell shockbox with 002, 003 etc..while they get through the NEO GEO line..i bet they could of easily fitted all the King of Fighters games on 1 Blu Ray..but there obviously gonna monetize and squeeze the most money out of it! ..so ya i expect more NEO GEO style clamshell cases with sequential numbering as well.

i can't believe JAK 3 standard copies is such a slow seller, that Limited Run Games has lifted limits on it, hoping a "blowout" of orders will occur..limited run games is losing it's collectible shine and luster when it comes to PS4 games ..i remember when PANG BROS, and THOMAS WAS ALONE, and some other shovelware would "sell out" quick or within the hour and now a NAUGHTY DOG title that was being promoted also by first party SONY social media feeds is somewhat languishing...i guess Nintendo Switch saved Limited Run but keep in mind, there's at least 15 other competitors out there, including the latest one hiddengemsgames and also hard copy games and so on and so fourth.

FYI, I remember them talking about a special bonus given only to people who order all 4.

Yeah, they said that people who ordered all four would get a special box/packaging to fit all four games. Sounds really cool, hopefully they won't change their mind on that.

Btw, I received the CE for Battle Chef Brigade Deluxe yesterday and I really like it. It's a really pretty box with beautiful print and it looks like they put way more thought into the inside as well. At the bottom of the box there's a white cardboard that holds the soundtrack, game and steelbook and on top of that rests the apron.

I like it much better than the Pixeljunk Monsters 2 CE which was essentially a box with stuff randomly rattling around inside.

Anyone here who still has a full set of all these different companies? There's so many out there right now, that it's hard to keep up lol. And it's getting more and more expensive. I have quite a lot, but no full sets for LimitedRunGames, Signature edition and Play Asia. I do have all the StrictlyLimited and RedArt games lol.

OMG! I am the BIGGEST idiot. After I successfully grabbed a turok classic edition whilst I was at work a few weeks back, I completely botched getting River City Girls and I’ve been free ALL DAY LONG...!

First, I thought the first Preorder was at 10:00 am. Nope it was at 7:00am. Sad thing is, is I was up at 7:00...

Then I looked and thought ok, 6:00pm is the second preorder. I’ve been helping out a family member impatiently waiting for 6:00pm

It’s now 415. Getting close!!!!

And then it dawned on me, it’s 6:00 pm eastern time! :(

That’s 3:00pm my time! Haha I missed it and didn’t even know it...

I even saw the email I got at 2:56 about the PO thinking it was reminding me about the 6:00pm start time. Nope, it was telling me to PO now! Haha!!! I absolutely get dumbest collector of the day for sure! Who misses a PO they’re anticipating twice in one day when they’re 100% available and waiting for it? Sheesh...

it's kinda amusing to me, that these games are supposedly strictly limited, but they let it slip, that for the PAX variant cover of the PS4 Bloodstained Curse of the Moon variant copy, once it was decided that game would be the featured exclusive for the convention for this year, there was "an additional separate run" for that particular title...so how's that "strictly limited to one pressing"? is what the bold claims are for LRG games. i do enjoy purchasing their games..just sick and tired of them pretending their customers are fools..with this "severely limited, strictly limited, one pressing and done! etc." nonsense, their objective is to grow as a company, and the only way is to make bigger and larger print runs..and i guess, their loophole is to do essentially reprints with variant covers, which to them, means it's technically not the same as a standard reprint!? ..this post is based on tid bits posted on their various social media outlets and pages.

Starting tomorrow, (Friday, February 14th) international duties-paid shipping rates for several countries will be increasing. This increased shipping price will be reflected at checkout and will be shown before confirmation of your order.

DDP rates for the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Canada will not be rising and will remain where they were throughout 2019.

DDP rates for all other DDP countries will be rising (and this will vary by country). Rates for countries not receiving DDP service will not be impacted and remain where they have been.

Upon review of our current shipping operation, it was discovered that we had lost a significant amount over international shipping in the past year. This was due to rising postage costs, plus customs fees and taxes we were prepaying upon shipment. When we send a package through a duties paid service, we're paying the postage and any customs fees that you would normally have to pay to receive that package. This means that in many countries, we were paying more than the price of the game to ship it to customers.

In the past, we had the wiggle room to ship to some countries at a loss, but due to higher postage rates and the increased number of items we were shipping out, unfortunately we can no longer do that. We realized that we don't have latitude to raise rates in all countries to bring back equilibrium across the board. Therefore, the countries that are costing us the most to ship to will need to bear a higher associated shipping cost. We deeply apologize for this change and hope to continue serving you.

We would like to inform you that we are in the early stages of opening an operation in The Netherlands, and it’s something we are pretty excited about. Our goal with that is to provide cheaper, faster, and better shipping to Europe (from within Europe). Once this is up and running, we expect to be able to adjust rates down across the board.

We would also like to deeply apologize for an issue where many international orders in January were sent out with a duties unpaid service. This issue has been corrected and all orders that should have been DDP are now being sent DDP as originally intended.
