Hey guys,

I'm going through my collection and offloading some older games that I no longer want. A long time ago I purchased a new "Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Collector's Edition" from eBay. These CEs have a holographic sticker with numbering. However, mine is blank (https://imgbox.com/4AQvPArW).

It was a weird curiosity that I never really looked into. I'm all about the goodies inside so it never really bothered me.

Now that I'm selling it, I feel that I need to point out that this one isn't numbered, but I don't have an explanation. I scoured eBay and did find a user selling one like mine, but there was no information on it.

Anyone have any idea about this?

there is usually a number of sets run off from the factory for internal company workers like select employees who worked on the edition, or a "sample run" to check all contents are up to the mark, or a "reprint" if demand is strong but they can get around the legal loophole by claiming it's NOT part of the numbered run but a "separate" run that is "not exclusive"...a majority of the companies do this...they will advertise and sell a "numbered run" and then produce extras on top of that, for a host of reasons as the companies see fit..most stickering of numbers is just a marketing tool gimmick to play on the collector pschye..back in the day, when limited items were made, they were made with love and care in small batches by artisans or hand made items or made to order...now it's all automated with Chinese factories and productions times have been greatly reduced with advanced tech compared to 20-3o years ago. but companies can sell items for higher prices and much quicker by stickering them.

Thank you, I appreciate your insight. I really just wanted to list this with an explanation as to why it's blank. Not that I think it will increase the value (it's not like this CE is worth anything), just so that there's no danger the buyer can suddenly claim it's counterfeit after purchasing (which sadly has already happened to me).
