Black Rock Shooter: The Game confirmed for PSP

Imageepoch has announced at Tokyo conference today that a popular anime, Black Rock, will be getting its own PSP game.



The game will follow the adventures of the Black Rock Shooter, a glowing-eyed girl equipped with a gun that can fire 20 rounds per second. It’s set in the year 2051, 19 years after war broke out with invading aliens.

Mankind’s got its back against the wall with only 12 people surviving, the remaining humans fighting against the seven apostles and countless mechs.

Kazuya Niinou will be directing the game, with animation work being done by UFOTABLE.

The anime, which released earlier in the year, was made by Ordet, an Osaka-based studio.

The game will release next spring in Japan for PSP and will cost ¥6,279. A limited edition will cost ¥10,479, and contain a special visual box containing the following:

I hope this get a publisher in other regions, but with the low and falling sales of PSP software outside of Japan, I'm not holding my breath.

Details on Imageepoch (http://www.siliconera.com/tag/imageepoch/)’s upcoming Black Rock Shooter (http://www.siliconera.com/tag/black-rock-shooter/) RPG for PSP are still scarce, but here’s a new promo video introducing the White Rock Shooter to tide you over until they feel like talking about the game. When Black Rock Shooter: The Game releases in Japan, gamers will be able to pick up a premium edition box that comes with a White Rock Shooter Figma figurine. There’s been no confirmation of a release for the game outside Japan yet, but NIS America (http://www.siliconera.com/tag/nis-america/) do have an ongoing deal with Imageepoch to publish their games in the U.S.

The news here is that NIS America has a publishing deal with Imagepoch, so perhaps this premium edition (or something similar) really does have a shot to be released outside of Japan. :) I am excited for this now, because before, I thought there was no chance for a U.S. release. We'll see how this shakes out.

Here is some more information on this release:

The White Rock Shooter apparently has removable face parts (she does have that crazy flaming eye thing going on, after all, as does Black Rock Shooter) and she comes with her scythe and a stand.

call me out of line if you wish, but i hope that the US doesn't just include what is listed in the japanese edition but maybe makes a 3rd edition that has all that and a special edition PSP depicting black rock shooter on it as well. I would buy it..more so force my friend who broke my current PSP who promised me a new one buy it but still, i would get it with out second thought
