So i've just taken receipt of my Crysis 2 Nano Edition which I bought from GAME. This thing is HUGE! In comparison, it's about the size of Steel Battalion or a Rock Band / Guitar Hero band pack box!

Unfortunately, mine arrived damaged. Due to the uneven weight distribution, it has obviously been dropped on one corner. As the shipping box is very thin, this damage has been instantly transferred to the CE inside :(

Here's a few pics of the damage:

Aww. That sucks. I gotta agree with you there. The box is fucking huge!

That is exactly why I hate buying stuff online. I bought Fallout: New Vegas and the CE game guide from Amazon, and the box it came in did not have any padding of sorts and it was just big enough for the book to fit. That resulted in the corners of the book getting dented.

I think the store should do a better effort when it comes to shipping. They know that the postal service doesn't carry every individual box on a velvet pillow out into the truck/plane/boat that is carrying your orders. Charge 3 dollars more and get a good cardboard box and some bubblewrap -.-'

Unfortunately, I didn't have much of a choice with this one. It was only available from GAME (And EA's own store), and an online exclusive only. Plus the fact that there was a high risk that this could've sold out on pre-orders as well

I am hoping that GAME have enough in reserve to ship a replacement out, and if they do, I hope the replacement reaches me in better condition!

The damage is a lot worse than it looks in the pictures above - When you consider how big the Nano Edition is, you then get a sense of perspective at how bad the dent on the corner is

Man that sucks! I think it's the delivery drivers that cause some of the damage. In other cases like when HMV ship in a plastic bags that just a serious lack of care for what they must know we want to keep nice.

In fact They no it's special as they charge more so where is the common sense it protecting it on it's travels!!

Gemini did you get a replacement, they have sold out now.

Still waiting. I only sent it back during the week. Hopefully they'll have a reserve allocation which have been held back for return purposes - No doubt once damaged items issues have been solved, these will become available again for a short while

I was actually offered £150 by some bloke for my damaged one in the post office line the other day, but as they were sold out and I actually wanted a replacement, I had to refuse the offer :(

^ I would be worried, I once returned a item for replacement and they ran out of stock on their website.

I though they would have a reserve allocation too, but it turn out they didn't and they simply refunded me. I think it was for Super Mario Bros 25th edition. Hope you get a copy.

Yea, that has happened to me once with HMV and the Terminator 2 endoskeleton bust. I had to send back because the plastic was shattered, but they didn't have any more to send a replacement and simply refunded me. I would be absolutely gutted if they did that with this game, and it's something I always fear when returning items like this which sell out on pre-orders. However, their customer service team assured me that the replacement would be packed a certain way, which leads me to believe they have already picked a suitable replacement and put it aside

Bad news:

Unfortunately we no longer have stock available to send you a replacement and therefore a refund has been processed to your card. Please allow a few days for this amount to show up in your account.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.

I am so very angry right now! I've had to forfeit my Crysis 2: Nano Edition as there're no replacements!!! How stupid is that? I returned it four days after I received it, which means they will have received it sometime over the weekend, and they have none to offer as replacement? Or maybe they just can't be arsed dealing with me anymore?

Four months of anticipation for nothing, simply because they neglected to package a £120 CE in a more sturdy cardboard box... When I pre-order an item which is an online exclusive, I expect to receive it in nothing more than perfect condition! I don't feel I am being unreasonable

Of all the CE's of the year so far which I really wanted, it was this one. I committed to this for four months, and even held off buying other things in the lead up to this edition, and all for what? A damaged £120 CE as they were too tight or too lazy to package it better

If anyone has a spare in decent condition, then please let me know! Good money is waiting provided you can package dilligently

^ OH man- I Feel for you. I got concerned when you said you were returning it and then realised they ran out of stock. GAME have a history of this.

Would you have kept it even with the damage, could easily get a profit on eBay now that it sold out.

I would be seriously pissed also though, I do know theharrision over at SGH has an Xbox version for sale.

It's definitely the best edition so far this year and likely the rest of the year also.

No, I would not have kept it with the damage out of principal. It would play on my mind for as long as I owned it. I shouldn't have to be forced to accept something like that in that condition anyhow, not when other people received mint copies. The point is, GAME should have taken more care to package the item to ensure it arrived to me in nothing less than perfect condition!

I think the only two games which could eclipse this edition in 2011 are perhaps Gears Of War 3 and the new Call Of Duty game, but so far it's definitely one of the nicest, and a rarity from EA considering the trashy "Day one" LE's they keep releasing, and especially after the sub-standard Dead Space 2 CE...

That would be very helpful, although I must emphasise on condition - I returned mine because it had badly dented corners, and am looking for one with no damage.

Just awaiting my refund from GAME to come through

This wasn't the only corner which was damaged by the way. I just realised that I didn't take pics of the other corners. They were well and truly bashed in, like someone deliberately smackdowned the box into the floor. I would have personally packaged this with corner padding to prevent this from happening, as the corners are the most vunerable part. But obviously GAME + Common sense don't quite go together in a sentence...

I wonder how much damaged returns cost GAME each year? Surely they could save money by simply packaging expensive CE's a little better and reduce damaged returns?

That requires thinking beyond simply getting it out of the depot.

Their priorities are all wrong. They're more interested in getting it out quick rather than paying attention to getting it to you in good condition. At the end of the day, it must cost them more in damaged goods than it would have if they'd used better packaging in the first place! So what if it takes an extra day to arrive - People buying online aren't exactly in a hurry, otherwise they would've simply gone to town to buy their games

Idiotic mentality if you ask me. It's just common sense that certain expensive CE's require more adequate packaging as they're delicate and can damage easily.

agree 100%, online ordering is a gamble especially overseas..face2face will always be better. I just ordered a Chun Li Collectors Edition TE SSFIV fight stick from amazon marketplace, i practically begged the seller to ensure adequate packaging, we shall see what happens with that:ghey: the way your nano arrived is a disgrace.

I have lost count of the number of times i have returned stuff to game and other online retailers ,although i must admit game are by far the worst

I too have sent back many item not deem worthy of keeping, GAME should at least know about the packaging requirement. All they sell are games, what's their excuse.

Also I must say Play.com and zavvi are the worst by far for me.

only thing ive gotten from game was a copy of uncharted 2 steelbook, first one they sent was trashed second one was fine..

Gemini-Phoenix
04-11-2011, 09:35 AM
Haha, my worst experience was with a SteelBook copy of Turok I got from GAME - It arived with a 30 degree bend in the middle! Looked like someone had driven over it with a 4x4 truck! Lol. I wish I had've taken pics of it when I had the chance, but it was the one which prompted me to take photo's of all subsequent damaged goods I receive

You're right though - All they sell is games, so why can't they adopt the same methods as HMV and use adequate boxes? Who the hell at GAME considers white double-sided bubblewrap to be adequate for a flimsy CE which comes in a delicate cardboard box? FFXIII CE and BlazBlue were prime examples, as are the recent Square PSP releases...

I don't think i've received a single CE from GAME this year which I haven't had to send back at least once. I only ever get a box after the second return though, and so far i've never had to return anything more than twice. I firmly tell them that I will keep returning damaged items until such time they learn to package them correctly first time around, and use a bit of common sense

It is seriously delicate as well, the slipcase is ultra thin card. The sticker seals also came off quite easily.

Where will you be getting it from?

12-08-2011, 10:27 PM
im guessing ill have it bubble wrapped all over.

getting it from singapore, im flying back to bali next week :D

gurpswoo1
12-08-2011, 10:33 PM
Ah I see, I don't think Bubble wrap is going to help.

I presume they will handle the items like luggage and throw it. Also they will likely crush everything together. Do they handle boxes differently to Suitcases.

You can fold it flat and put in a suitcases, then put those figurine, game and artbook inside the backpack or wear it.
