Today I received an email from GameGears about an error they made when they calculated the shipping costs for my order.

Here is the email:

Hi [my name],

Hello and thank you fro buying from Gamegears, Upon processing your order it was brough to our attention that the postage that you paid for the item was incorrect. The postage cost should have been £12GBP. Because of this you will need to pay an extra £10.05GBP. Please let me know if you would like for us yto invoice you so that you can make the payment. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Regards, Georgina care@gamegears.co.uk

Thank you,
GameGears

I really do not want to pay 10 extra pounds for a mistake they made. Plus, if I knew that shipping would cost me £12 I would not have ordered from them in the first place.
I can't be held responsible for their mistake so legally I am not obliged to pay the extra money, right?

as far as i am aware that is there OWN fault and you are NOT legally responsible as they have sent you a invoice already with the total price you have paid? if so i dont think they have a leg to stand on.

They already received payment from my paypal and shipped my order a few days ago. I think I will answer them and say that since they made the mistake, I am not in any way responsible and they cannot make me pay the extra shipping.

just say. This was your responsibility to take care of postage charge when packaging the game. only thing they MAY do is blacklist you lol.

They might put you on their blacklist if you deny, but I think it's their own mistake. Never seen this before though, most shops take their loss.
I don't know which item you ordered, but if it's a bargain I would pay half of the extra shipping costs to avoid any problems with a blacklist or so.

On the other hand, we all make mistakes, I also had it once on Ebay and charged the wrong amount for shipping. Very glad he was willing to pay. :)

Oh no, I really do not want to be blacklisted by a website that can't even keep track of the right amount of money they should charge :P

Politely Refuse and point out it was their mistake, worked for me when GAME was trying to pull all manner of shenanigans.

Alright, here is what I'm planning on answering:

Good evening

My statutory rights state that I cannot be held responsible for the mistake made by your party. I paid the price that was advertised on your website and I’m sorry but I must refuse to pay any additional costs added after the original transaction.

Best regards,

[my name]

That sounds good to me, I agree with everyone else. They don't have a leg to stand on. Although you run the risk of being blacklisted, could always make another account.

Edit, wrong store
