This is a pure Rumour

Reports over at KinectAKU have said they have been given information on a special Star wars themed xbox 360 to celebrate the release of the kinect game:

This has been extracted from their website:
IT will be clad in a blue and white paint job — even the Kinect sensor itself will be sporting a neat palette change.

You can read the full report here: Source (http://www.kinectaku.com/news/2011/07/microsoft_to_release_limited_edition_star_wars_360 _console_with_kinect)

Let's hope this is true as it will be the first custom Kinect system, if true it Is one I'm very much looking forward to. :bananayes:

sounds great. If it's true I really need to get my hands on one of these :nosleep:

If it is indeed true, it will no doubt only be a 4GB model, otherwise the bundle would prove too expensive if it were a higher-spec model + Kinect + game. I think the ideal price for an LE X360 console is around £250-£280, and I can't see Microsoft bundling a Kinect & the game with a 250GB or 320GB model for that price. Likewise, I can't see anyone willing to pay over £300 for an Xbox bundle

In contrast, the Gears Of War 3 console comes with a 320GB HDD, an extra controller, and the game for only £269.99, and previous Super Elite consoles have retailed at £249.99

Something that is strangle, it's a 320GB version and not a 4GB as expected. What will the price of this unit be. Could this be an indication of a price drop or a discounted bundle in the run up to Christmas.

On another note, loving the blue controller indicator ring, perhaps it will also have unique noises like the Halo reach and the coming Gears of war 3 consoles.

$450 is the price. Can't wait, was confirmed at comic con xx

Pre ordered, thank God it's not another September release xx

gurpswoo1
07-21-2011, 09:56 PM
It works out at about £355 GBP delivered and after taxes. Too expensive for me.

vhal_x
07-21-2011, 10:18 PM
Yeah but $90 of that is customs charges, they pre pay it incase it gets hit at customs, but in my experience, if it doesn't get charged at customs, they refund you that money (did it with both the MK editions for me). Wee tip, to avoid it getting customs charges, make it a gift order, that way they don't print the price on the packing slip. Of course, there is the chance that your item is one that is randomly picked at customs, then they estimate what the item is worth, then charge the amount that they would charge for that price xx

Interesting information, Might change my mind then.

I will wait to see if there is going to be PAL version first.

vhal_x

I'm only doing it as I want an NTSC console anyway :) was going to do it with the gears one, but I'll just get the PAL gears one at some point as I won't really have the money for another xbox in September anyway, so thank God this is a December release xx

I just came on here to post about this, but then I realised we'd already discussed it

Kotaku / Gizmodo have just given a heads-up (in the form of a psuedo-documentary of the development process) of a Limited Edition Star Wars R2-D2 X360 Slim console, due out towards the end of the year to coincide with the release of Kinect: Star Wars

http://kotaku.com/5823488/exclusive-inside-microsofts-fanboy-fantasy-the-star-wars-xbox-360

The console is, as you would expect, predominantly white with blue and silver detailing. There are numerous easter eggs printed on the console, and the console itself even makes R2-D2 noises when you open and close the disc drawer!

It also comes with a plain white Kinect (the first example of a white Kinect), as well as an exclusive C-3PO styled controller, in a retor gold colour and coloured detailing to represent the different parts of C-3PO. It is also the newer design controller with the twisty D-pad!

No word yet whether this will be available outside of North America (they'd be stupid not to release this in Europe), but it's rumoured to retail at $450 when it drops in November and will come with a 320Gb HDD!

Here are a few choice pictures (as featured on Kotaku / Gizmodo):

vhal_x

Am I reading that right, converted to GBP, that's almost 100 pounds more than the Amazon US one (including shipping to UK), despite being the same, but the AUS one doesn't include shipping! Whoa.

ShopTo.net already have it up on their site available to pre-order for £334.85!

And just like that, along comes a listing on the GAME website! No price as yet though, and the listing is not live for re-orders yet either :(

EDIT: Listing is now active, price is £349.99

http://www.game.co.uk/Limited-Edition-Star-Wars-Xbox-360-320GB-with-Kinect-and-Kinect-Star-Wars-Game-/~r356106/ (http://www.game.co.uk/Limited-Edition-Star-Wars-Xbox-360-320GB-with-Kinect-and-Kinect-Star-Wars-Game-/%7Er356106/)

PLAY.com have it up too, but no price and no active listing as yet:

And Amazon.co.uk also have it listed, with a price tag of £349.99, so at least £15 more expensive that ShopTo's price:

Yeah, I'd be saving well over $150, but then I wouldn't be covered for warranty and region restrictions for games.

I pre-ordered from the US anyway just in case, have you already paid for it? I was thinking of grabbing some Gift Cards enough to pay it off while our dollar is strong against the US!

vhal_x

gurpswoo1

It may be cheaper but you have to risk the packaging will suffer when on the way here.

Matrix 6 your right about taking advantage of the weak dollar, especially when you consider the price of the console your Australia.

You were actually looking for an American console, so you're in luck with this! Although I do agree that it is pretty lame that it still works out cheaper to import an NTSC console than it does buying a native UK machine.

The exchange rate just doesn't work in our favour though, as $450 equates to £276 right now, so where do these retailers get off charging us £350?

gurpswoo1
07-22-2011, 09:38 PM
Alot of the additional cost is the V.A.T, in the USA cross state delivery is tax free where as it's 20% here.

The Gears console will likely behave like the Halo reach console.

It's likely to sell out initially up to Christmas where prices will explode on eBay, then it will come back into stock to sell off the remainder of stock in Jan and Feb.

vhal_x
07-23-2011, 01:07 AM
Yeah, I'll only pay retail or less for it - not gonna resort to ebay, I managed to get a Halo Reach console quite easily just before Xmas last year at (just) lower than retail so here's hoping I have that luck again :D xx

Seems to be confirmed for the PAL version in amazon.co.uk:http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005DRB89C/ref=pe_18101_25977851_as_txt_3/
Looks good though not sure if 349£ is affordable right now for me...
Anyone already pre ordered it???

Gemini-Phoenix
07-26-2011, 01:38 PM
I've already pre-ordered it from GAME. I do hope the price does come down by a bit, but it's too nice to pass up even if I do end up paying £350 for it.

I'll wait until towards the end of October when I have received a ton of CE's from them, and then maybe re-order it with any GAME points I have accumulated between now and then (Should be close to £50 I reckon!)

asiak75
07-26-2011, 01:44 PM
Is there any way possible to know the limited quantity available?
I mean if they would come up saying that there is a certain amount of consoles I would definitively order one too.
Any idea???

Erm been wanting to get an Xbox360 and this is good.. just wondering does getting it from the US means I have to worry about the voltage hence requiring a step down transformer? or is it something similar like PS3 where the power unit is universal

EDIT: hmm might have to get local console I suppose due to power issue

you can buy the console in america and use it with a local power supply. That's what I did.

this one should fit with the star wars console:

Kotaku have just reported that the release date for Star Wars Kinect, and subsequently this CE console, has been pushed back into 2012. When exactly in 2012 we do not know (may be first week, may be anytime before next December), but will let you know as soon as there is an announcement

I'm happy with it, as that now means an additional £350 in my pocket before Xmas, and extra time to save up for it after the new year. I am hoping it has been put off until early February to be honest, as the first two months of the year are usually quite quiet where CE's are concerned

Game and console bundle will be delayed until further notice due to technical problems with the Kinect.
