In Germany it's possible to pre-order games in the Gamestop store itself. There you only have to pay 5€ while the online shop charges you the full amount when pre-ordering.

gamestop.uk and gamestop.ie are the very same and they will only ship to ireland and the uk. they are the same company and based in ireland. there are no gamestop stores in england anymore they are in the north of ireland. i pre-ordered in store. normally whatever editions gamestop get play.com also sell. as gamestop is irish based i persume a uk company will also sell this game. i reckon it will be play.

TBH: What is the point of buying Collector Editions to actually use those items? Don't get me wrong, it totally makes sense, but I highly doubt, that anyone seriously collecting expensive editions is "really" using that stuff.

A serious collector may buy a edition and then puts it on his shelve without opening it. For playing that game he would buy another regular copy of that game (wich afterwards can be sold on Ebay).

Personally, I buy Collectors Edition, because they look nice on my shelfs and because they fit so well in my "gaming room" (and because I love them :drool:). But I don't buy them because I plan to wear stuff like rings oder belts :shrug:

That sounds incredible and yet sound way too good to be true especially for a very large CE that'll easily way over 3kg!!

I'd preorder it if I were you and perhaps then send them an email to confirm that you've been given the right shipping fees! You don't want an apology email just before release saying that it was an error on their system and that it'll actually cost well over $100 to ship!!! Better safe than sorry, and if it's all good....then you're WINNING! :D

Totally worth it imo. Looking like it's going to be great quality and they're promising us that.....I would rely on that promise as Naughty Dog hasn't failed me.

God of War 3 Pandora's Box was a complete fail imo! Cheap and tacky quality! GT5 Signature Edition was the most expensive here at $300...but at least it did have quality made contents....just still didn't feel it was worth $300 though. But I couldn't really complain when the quality was purely elegant!

It only applies for the 'Special Edition' pre-orders, it not for the EE (for the price you I'd demand it off them, otherwise threaten them that you'd get it elsewhere and get a free shirt instead. Those DLC codes are packed in the EE anyway. lol, you have any idea how difficult is it to apply those decals on a console?!? Not easy to get it on perfectly. I'd rather have a faceplate type like they did with GT5.

If this edition is UK exclusive, then the only place is Gamestop which as you know will not export.

Your only choices will be:

1) Ebay
2) Ask a member to purchase a copy for you and export
3) forwarding agent, looking at the T&C from gamestop you will have issue with this.

I actually have both preordered right now, but I doubt my order at game.co.uk will hold, because of the problem with weight as Majorg85k describes.

If I can get EE for around 100£, I'm gonna pick that up and get the Steelbook later yeah, but If I can't get the EE for around 100£, I'm gonna stick with the US CE.

That's what I did. I pre-ordered the GAME one first, as it woudn't be much of a hardship if I ended up with two. I eMailed GameStop about cancelling, and they obliged, although I don't know why they don't have the facility to cancel orders on their website...

GameStop charged for shipping, which naturally made this CE more expensive to begin with, but when you consider how many GAME reward points you'd earn from pre-ordering this from them instead, it's a considerable price difference

For the italian steelbook edition from blockbuster they said it is in store only and you preorder it, pay 5€ in advance and you get the steelbook. As for the wooden travel cases i'll go ask gamestop italia tomorrow.

Yeap, sucker for steelbook but I need me the CE contents from one of the editions too. I use a port forwarding service that gets me anything from US,UK and China in 3-4 business days. Their pricing goes like 10$ for first 500 grams and 8$ extra for the rest though they help avoid import taxes. So I just roughly calculated the shipping on the UK explorer edition.

My bro (lives in Oz) told me about fishpond a while back i used them to order a few things (one item never turned up out of four) it's an aussie site but i heard they ship the items from a warehouse in New Zealand. I am totally baffled by the numerous CE/SE/LE/EE variants of UC3 that Naughty Dog is launching across the globe. It seems naughty dog is globetrotting for Collector's adventure by releasing different editions in every continent. Or else how can you explain a different variant for US, EU, China, Australia (and who knows may be a Latin and African variant may too spring up close to the release date)

2011 has surely proved to be one of the most glorious years on record for collectors like us who dig for these glitzy, precious and irresistible collectibles.

Going by the look of this, it seems that UC3's franchise are all set to enter the record book for launching the maximum number of CE variants of a single game (Its sad that FIFA 12's 7 steelbook editions would go for a toss in less than a month's time)

Whatever, each and every edition of UC3 is :drool: and tempting.

From what I understand the US edition is called 'Collectors' and the UK edition 'Explorers'.

Content wise (again my understanding) is that the UK version has a wooden chest type bag that it all comes in and the game is the 'Special Edition' which is in the style of a journal.

The US version comes in a different box (seems less nice TBH) and also the bax box is different - its s steelbook.

There is no china version. It says English + Chinese. That would be the Asia version and most likely we will get that here as we always get the Eng+Chi versions :)

In U.S...stores sometimes they'll offer limited edition steelbooks...what they do is put out the steelbooks for sale, say things like pre-order now, put down $8.99 deposit, and take home this steelbook"..and when the game comes around, just do not purchase it..and they will "charge the $8.99" essentially for the steelbook..i guess they figure, you'd come back for the game, cause why would you be a fan of the steelbook, and not the game?..or why would you want an empty case?..so maybe, anybody can find out..if someone can just pay down a small deposit, as a "pre order"..and then walk away with the steelbook?..and not show up for the game...but it depends, if u get steelbook now?.or day of release?..in america, they tend to give ahead of time whenever a promo like this happens..especially with Blu ray movies, etc...just food for thought..I REALLY WANT THAT ITALIAN STEELBOOK FOR UNCHARTED 3!!!!! :)..somebody make it happen!!!!

The game itself is 69.99€(which you can resell)+ a couple of € for the steelbook+ a 400km trip to preorder this and pickup(gas)+ i think no one's time is free. ill make sure to check every steelbook to be mint condition + ill box it safely so you will get it intact(as a collector i know it sucks getting something smashed by post) and ill try to send it from Italy to keep the shipping costs as low as possible

i think DIGI, the best way to approach this is for you to come at a FIRM "FIXED PRICE" (all inclusive)..and then we can decide whose in and whose out, also thank you for understanding how particular especially myself us collectors, can be, during packaging and shipment, i am sure you will know how to best handle it,.meaning double bubble wrapping, oversized box for some wiggle room so the steelbook corners don't get smashed up and boxing it and treating it like fragile glass would be the best bet,..also i hope you have a paypal account, for those of us who give you the go ahead, i think that would be the only solution to pay..but you would need to confirm you have product in hand and ready to go,.unless you have or others have a better idea...just my 2 cents (opinion)..also just to be clear, i am NOT 100% on this YET..it all comes down to if i feel it is worth it, keeping in mind your travel expenses and fee..if it all rounds out to be "reasonable" and fair, then mostly likely i will be in...i can come to this desicion only when you come up with a firm price, and you have confirmation of game+ steelbook in "mint condition"...i apalogise for the rant, just wanted to clear the air, where i stand, and what i feel is the best way to approach this.

There's a bundle that comes with the Asian steelbook edition + uncharted 3 controller. I think thats the 1 they're talking about.

can anybody please clarify the distinction between "uncharted 3 dualshock japan" and "uncharted 3 dualshock asian"..as importers have big price variations amongst from what i can tell identical products...is the japan one better quality?...if i buy the "asian" dualshock?..will it work with my US ps3?..it appears as if the ones marked japan sell out fast..whereas, same item marked "asian" lingers for awhile, even though "japan" one has price markup...i'm confused?

I think it's like the myth cloth problem... it's the same... both come from the same factory but may have different packaging (special sticker for japan myth cloth)... And some think that japan version are the true collector (harder to find, country of origin for myth cloth, etc...)
If you are just interested by the opbject itself, it will be the same...

Still a lot for just a steelbook. Your not being unreasonable or anything (I totally get why the price is so high), thats just a lot of $, especially at this time of the year.

Honestly the most I'd pay for the steelbook alone is about $50. How come you can't let people mail you some of the games on the list so that we can get it for 10 euros?

4 resons for that:
1. The games wont be here in time because my postal services suck-i wait for games from the UK around 2 weeks(steelbook promotion is till the 27th)
2. the games can only be PAL
3. The games must be all different(i asked them if i could bring multiple copies of the same games and they said nop)
4. the list is updated and games are added or removed weekly
