Is this most money I spent on a single video game, or the highest valued game in my collection?

My most expensive item in my collection is not a game... (but is game related) but otherwise I probably paid the most for my Resistance 3 Survival Edition. Currency conversion is killer on people in the US. ;-;

Hard to say for a single game, but my $250 NGS1 CE purchase comes to mind. It was in a crazy bidding war, can't believe I won it, or that I paid so much for basically just a cardboard sleeve!

My most expensive was god of war 3 ultimate edition which cost me total of SGD 250 to ship over here. And I got the god of war 3 ultimate trilogy for SGD 200 only! I just started collecting at that time so wasn't too sure which one was worth more. LOL :lmao:

Hmm, I think my Tales of Xillia Kyuun Chara Pack, though most Japanese CE are crazy expensive. That one was roughly $250 (without shipping, and I picked EMS) if I recall correctly. Was very, very worth it, though. I really love that game and the figures are simply precious. :D

Edit* Ah found it back, so yes, seems to be the most expensive with $290 total with shipping.

How much I paid and how much my most expensive game is worth are two very different things ;)

I very rarely pay over £100 for any game. There was a time when we considered £130 for Steel Battalion to be expensive, and then along came the slew of Guitar Hero / Rock Band bundles, followed by extremely expensive CE's...

These days it seems commonplace to pay over £100 for a lavish CE. A few recent ones I can think of where I have paid around £100 include Resistance 3, Gran Turismo 5, and Killzone 3, not to mention games I have paid more for such as the Black Ops Prestige Edition, MW2 Prestige Edition, Halo 3 Legendary Edition, and Halo Reach Legendary Edition etc... Skyrim and Uncharted 3 will be forthcoming games where I will be paying upwards of £100

But let's forget CE's for a moment. The most I have ever paid for a single game is £230, and that was for Steel Battalion on the eve of the release of Steel Battalion: Line Of Contact. I paid twice the release price for the original game a year after its release as I wasn't aware that Line Of Contact came with it.

Aside from CE's and Line Of Contact, the most I have ever spent on a standard game is about £130 for a factory sealed copy of Pokémon Crystal off eBay. It was the last Pokémon game I required for a full UK set, therefore I was willing to pay the premium on that. I have also been known to pay £100 for several factory sealed N64 games, but no higher

Which brings me back to what I said at the top of my post - My most expensive games I own ar my factory sealed N64 games, where I have personally been offered four-figure sums for certain games. Paper Mario is obviously the pride of my N64 collection, but I also have some very rare sealed copies of other classic games such as Mario Kart 64 and Mario Party 2, to name but a few

Second to these would perhaps be my sealed GameCube games, where I have been offered some obscene triple-figure amounts for certain titles. Mario Baseball is in very high demand!

Out of a collection of over 1,500 games, I estimate that at least 250 of them could easily fetch £100 on eBay, and of those I guess at least 50 or so of them could achieve higher than £200+ (and that's still not including any expensive sought after LE's or CE's!)

$300AUS inc shipping for my Street Fighter IV Comic Con 2009 TE stick (only 500 made, I think?).

Stick was great until the joystick became unusable after a few months. Still havent gotten around to trying to fix it yet, unfortunately.

Gemini-Phoenix

My most expensive item in my collection is not a game... (but is game related)

The most I have ever spent on a games console is £550 which was when I imported a brand new sealed red American PS2 into the UK. The console itself cost me over £400 with the exchange rate, but with the shipping costs and customs charges the price increased to nearly £550!

I paid a similar amount for a brand new sealed crystal blue Halo 2 Xbox console from Canada

However, these are not my most expensive consoles in my collection. I think that accolade would go to my silver Zelda: Phantom Hourglass DS Lite, which was limited to only 1,000 units and exclusive to the UK and Europe. Sealed ones typically sell for over £600 on eBay whenever they appear, and every one I see the price keeps rising. Used ones often hit over £400! Zelda collectors are hardcore!

I'm pretty used to paying around £250-£300 for X360 LE hardware. They're not usually the first things I think of when I'm asked what the most expensive item I own is. But the good thing about most of these LE consoles is that they tend to more or less hold their price

I'm not really that much of a big spender, instead I have an eye for the bargains and a decent amount of patience!

My most expensive addition to my collection(but also one of the best bargains) is my sealed/mint AC2 Black Edition on PS3, which cost me £80 with free shipping!

My most expensive game is a mint copy of Mark of the Wolves on Neogeo AES (JPN). I bought it on eBay for US$450. At the time our dollar wasn't the best so it worked out to around AUD$650!

It's still my pride and joy. :)

My most interesting items and that have some market value might be my Nes LaserScope New, MGS 4 Limited Edition, MGS Premium Package, and some sealed games just some regular stuff, since im 19 years old its kinda hard to get money to buy everything i want :P.

^^ My show piece for now is (or should I say are) my bunch of signed games/movies, they weren't the most expensive in my collection, but I do think they gather a lot of attention when I have people over, they are:

God of War III Ultimate Edition (thanks Mike1888!)
Medal of Honor (again, thanks Mike!)
Halo 3: ODST (again, MIKE!)
Fable III Limited Collector's Edition
Killzone 3 Helghast Edition
Enslaved Talent Pack
Long Pigs (movie) x2 (both signed with signed promo "human" jerky)
Big Bang Theory seasons 1 & 2 (both signed by Kunal Nayyar, Raj)
Land of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Donnie Darko

I think there's another couple, although I'm not 100% sure :rotf:

But yeah, those are all signed :) xx

I never really spend a lot on games. I always wait for deals to come out before I buy them. Probably around 100-150 though.

Most expensive thing in my collection is a different story though. I have a sealed copy of Super Mario World on the SNES which is probably worth the most.

I also have a sealed Batman: Arkham Asylum CE signed by Christopher Nolan. I don't know if that makes it worth more. And I know he has nothing to do with it. But why not take advantage of that opportunity?!

vhal_x
12-17-2011, 02:08 PM

Nononononon unless im in serious need of money I do not plan on selling that.

And yes it's the US CE. I was visiting California and he was out doing an interview or something like that. Huge crowd of people shouting at him as he's leaving to get an autograph. Most people had DVD's and just notepads.

I pull out this giant batman thing, he does short double take and say's "You know im not the creator of this right?" I say "I know but it's still awesome!" he just laughs and signs it.

The most expensive game I've *ever* owned was a cart-only copy of the US release of Stadium Events (NES)...paid $1200 (US) plus an NTSC Super Turrican NES proto in '07. It has since been sold, on June 30, 2010 for $2202 US. Currently, the game I own which cost me the most was a VGA 80 Dragon Warrior IV (NES)...paid $800 for it (a pittance, considering the last factory-sealed DW 4 on eBay went for $2025...ungraded...never mind the 85 that's on eBay right now for $4500 o_O ). I will say this, though...I tend to seek out deals on games whenever I buy them...and more often than not, you may be surprised at how little I've paid to acquire a lot of my rarer games (Valkyrie Profile 2 Artifact Box complete plus a factory-sealed Xenosaga Episode 1 Premium Box for $140 shipped, Valkyrie Profile Limited Box for $94 shipped, etc.).

Edit: Super Turrican was NTSC, not PAL :P .

The most I've paid for a game would be £120 for the Gran Turismo 5 Signature Edition. It's a nice enough CE but oh how I wish I'd not been conned by the hype and waited a few weeks until it dropped to half price.

Still, I learned my lesson with Skyrim and got that reaaly cheap but, on the downside, I didn't learn my lesson with Gears of War Epic edition and got burned again :blackeye:

Trying to figure out what to buy straight away and what to leave really is a gambler's game . . .sadly, i'm not very good at it :suicide:

Yeah same...I hesitated with the God Of War Trilogy and it sold out before release, i ended up paying slightly above RRP for mine, you never know what's going to happen...which is a pain in the arse....i too paid £129 for GT5 but i dont regret it too much since this is the risk you take, you win some you lose some.

The most I've paid for something is not too high, but there are some things that are worth a lot more than its original price...

Obviously, a sealed Magna Carta 2 CE goes for a lot more than its release price of ~$90.

I'm still looking for the Korean exclusive AC1 Premium Limited Edition, which was released at around $90 as well... a lot of members have asked me to find them this thing, but I'm having the hardest time! :(
A complete edition of this (it never came sealed) sold for $250 two years ago. Not sure how much they'd go for now :/

Also, I have a Dead Rising servbot mug signed by Capcom's Keiji Inafune. Only 500 exist...so in sheer rarity, this would be the rarest :D

Most expensive game for me was a Motorstorm Apocalypse Press Kit.

Some gouger offered it me for £200+£30 shipping.

Normally, I would have declined, but even after waiting for shipping, it meant I would get the game 2 weeks before its official release date (It arrived 4th March, and official release was 18th, until it was delayed in respect of the Japanese Tsunami disaster)

Also, I had just sold a Gran Turismo 100 million edition that was signed by the series creator Kazunori Yamuachi for £260. So to me, it was like easy come, easy go.

Interestingly, my cheapest game was actually the Resistance 3 Survivor edition. The one with the hip flask, toy soldiers etc?

Gamestation screwed up my payment some how, so I got it for free :woohoo:

And still to this day, I have not had any emails, messages, letters or any sort of notification from the bank. Result!

i wanted to jump on the GW2 CE but for £130 i just don't think i can justify it - even more so for an MMO CE - i wouldn't mind it as much if it was a landmark title like Halo Reach was etc - that said i have the SWTOR CE and i don't regret paying full price that for even though it was £50 a month later!

I totally agree. It was an impulse buy. usually I'd risk it and wait to see if the price goes down like I did for skyrim.

My most expensive item would be my neo Tokyo drake figure cost me $1501. The 1 was for shipping. At least shipping was not expensive lol.

Still makes me laugh that they put any kind of shipping cost on it. lol Regardless of how small it was. XD

Most expensive game in your collection was $15? You're mental!

Funny how you were in a shop that works with dollars yet your country flag is in UK...

Oh, oh and what is this I see? "damp proofing". SPAMMER!

I'd never have guessed.

Wow. Just realised I passed the 3,000 posts mark. Beat that spambot ;)

Also, I wish I had a spambot banhammer. They infuriate me so much. Why do we get so many!? xx
