Zavvi and damaged items...

Just got my Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in from Zavvi. It's heavily damaged, the factory plastic is ripped in 3 places, the bottom left corner of the box is torn... there are huge dents all over the box. :banghead:

The only reason I'm upset is because they didn't even package this thing well at all. It honestly was just sitting in a cardboard box that was falling apart when it got to me.

Should I try to get a new one from Zavvi? Honestly I don't see the point if they are just going to stick it in a cardboard box with no protection at all....

This is a common story with zavvi and mgs hd. I would personally get them to collect from you for a refund and get a mint one from eBay or forum later

i also received mine today...i actually paid additional for the gift wrapping thinking it would be of a great help to prevent the damages to the US..i was WRONG..actually the irony is my gift wrap was in very good shape..no rips no tears..but the box is heavily damaged..i think they wrapped a DAMAGED box and sent it to me anyways...it's not just a rip or a tear..it's whole side flap is torn off..and the other corner is CRUSHED.

I would wait a little bit and then send them an email saying the item never arrived (got lost in the mail). I know it's dishonest but stuff 'em, if they can't pack an item properly, they can send you another one for free, or if they have none left, give you a refund. :evil:

They can't track it so they have to give you the benefit of the doubt. Just don't do it too often otherwise they'll get a bit sus. ;)

Dreamcazman, I was wondering if maybe they are re-packaging items that come back damaged. I'm reading that some people received their item gift wrapped, and although there is no damage to the gift wrap, the box itself is broken apart.

If that's true, then I agree with you, stuff em'

Its really weird though. There are a lot of people who had this item damaged. But mine was perfectly packaged with aircushons (although i must say the box was slighty damaged to).

I had a similar situation,

Ordered both the X360 and PS3 versions,

PS3 Damaged Internally

X360 Damaged Externally and Internally

Now I am disappointed by the quality of the box and not Zavvi itself. Sure Zavvi slipped up but they replaced my X360 for me straight away but what is inexcusable is the poor design of the Box which allowed the contents to move around in transit.

Am I the only person that see this as the greater fault?

Zavvi did this to me when i ordered the Back To The Future Limited edition steel case blu-rays.

it came all beat about and they took ages to reply and say send it back and they will send another. Then waiting a week and chasing them up they e-mail me to say they are now out of stock of the limited item and from then on havent seen the price below £100 it so just bought the standard edition :(

its beyond belief Zavvi would allow something to get damaged that bad - what ever happened to companies training their staff to do the basics right?

I was looking forward to this arriving for ages as pre-ordered as soon as it got put on the site, had it pre-ordered at amazon 1st then changed to zavvi because of a 10% off code. Why oh why didnt i stick with amazon

to be honest, the real problem is the fact that they dont pad the boxes properly, and the actual CE packaging is bad. I don't know what they were thinking when they decided this flimsy pos box would survive transit anywhere.
