Max Payne 3 unboxing

Hey guys, my second photo unboxing (Following the one that I did for Ninja Gaiden 3, which can be found here: http://collectorsedition.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7475)

This one is for Max Payne 3, special edition, I also managed to pick up a brand new, sealed, darkness 2 limited edition for $20 from gamestop, not too bad if you ask me :)

Basically, few quick notes before we get to the photos, the box, (well mine at least) does not come sealed or taped or anything. the contents inside are sealed though. The box is fairly sturdy and nice, nothing fancy, but far better than what you got with Uncharted 3.

The game came housed in its own box, which, upon first glance, I thought was an artbook, unfortunately, I was wrong. (The absence of an artbook here does hurt this set somewhat)

The still life pictures are neat, nothing too great here, but quality wise, very nice and they fit the theme of the game very well.

The figure is a good size, the stand is sold, slightly raised, which is a nice addition and the design is nice, however, the paint job is very poor. It is nowhere near as good as the U3, Skyrim, Batman or even the Ninja Gaiden 3 figures, in terms of paint job. Its far too glossy and looks uninspiring. It does, however, look great from a distance, its just that once you get up close to it, it is found to be somewhat lacking.

Finally, the bullet key chain is actually rather nice, its solid and weighs a bit and its a very nice addition to the set.

Inside the actual case, there is a code for more DLC and a digital copy of the soundtrack, Interesting to note that there is no online pass required. (at least, there is no code for one). I don't know if these extras are limited to the CE or are included in the regular edition, but from what I gather, it should be available with all editions as the game case looks the same as the regular edition.

Just to be clear, is that camera flash or is the suit that shiny?

My camera probably made it about 40% more shiny than it really is, but its pretty shiny. I'll take another pic which will compare it with some other figures I have. That will give a better take

Looks to be by the pic a bit more shiny than the rock the dragon sits on maybe more like the bit in the middle? :wave:

May pick one up if it drops a bit like Gears of War 3 & Skyrim? :scratch:

yeah, no problem mate, I was also wondering the same thing as I saw another unboxing and it basically had the same issue. Its more shiny than both those figures by some way, the set is nice though, the game is very very good so if it drops in price, you should definitely pick one up :)

you're right, it doesn't really look like him, a bit too clean cut if you ask me, but now that i've actually made some room on my desk, it actually looks pretty epic. The stand for the figure is actually pretty big (very wide) and its littered with bullet shells that are actually made of plastic, instead of just being painted on.

the statue is nice, theres no doubt about it, but if it doesnt look anything like him, it loses the flavor atleast for me.
But when i seen that theres no artbook theres a biiiig no no for me, i hate when theres no physical soundtrack cd, but when theres no artbook i just buy something else.

I agree man, no artbook kinda kills it, but the statue is not completely off, just didn't really get his "ruggedness" right

They could have done better with the outer box, quite plain really....I have a promo box that looks better. The insert looks very sturdy though, great protection for the statue.

I actually like the statue, nice size but like you said a little shiny and the beard is not dark or pronounced enough.

I also hate the fact that CD's have gone out and codes for downloadable MP3's have come in, we can all get those for free lets face it.

As for the flash issue sometimes a bit of toilet paper over the flash of your camera stops the glare but still lights the subject up.

No artbook is a little bit disappoiting. And yes we need CD's not DD, they dont add value at all.

Ps: its really weird nothing in this CE is sealed (except the game itself).
