disillussioned with CE collecting?

This year ive become a bit disillusioned with buying CEs. Ive sold quite a few on as they look a bit cheap or naff.

Plus its been a pain that only a small handful of them seem to retain their value. Despite being my fave CE, it was gutting when GoW3 went so cheap.

Im thinking of just concentrating on getting the occasional Sideshow statue. the Lara croft ones posted recently from the last game look amazing.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I just buy the games that I would anyway so i can open them and enjoy the contents

I buy CEs for games that me and my boyfriend would have bought anyway (even without a CE) as we will open them and play and enjoy the games, and put the contents on display :)

There have been a few (okay, probably a lot of!) instances where I have bought a CE where I had no interest in the actual game, purely because the CE looks nice/has awesome contents/was a really good price/etc.

Sometimes I think to myself "holy shit" because it is a LOT of money I spend each month on CEs, but I enjoy hunting them down and having them on display for all to see, so it doesn't bother me too much.

And I'm too much of a hoarder to ever be able to sell any of my CEs, so I could never do that! I'd regret it instantly. I love my CEs too much :rotf: I'm so sad! :haha: xx

i can understand what you mean but like everyone else has said i normally don't see them as CE's i see them as the game i want plus all this cool extra stuff it comes with - i don't think i've ever bought a CE because it looks nice but had no interest in the actual item it's based around but i can see the appeal in doing that (vhal...)

If your disillusioned with CE's maybe your disillisoued with collecting in general sometimes i think that, such as what am i doing? does it have a purpose? but in the end i just think enjoy your life, if you have found something you enjoy doing and you can support that sort of lifestyle then congrats - your in a better position that most of the people in this world...

I understand the principle. I'll often find myself a little in dispair when there's 3 or 4 ce's coming out at the same time and work has decided they don't need me for a month (i'm part time in retail while at uni).

that and when i still can't find my ultimate collectors edition. Thats the polish gas mask release of metro 2033. if anyone finds it i will almost fly to their country of origin to get it.

anyway way; sometimes i think its natural to become a little disillussioned with the thing you love. if that happens you should take stock realise that there will be more ce's to look foreward to RELAX.

one day my metro 2033 edition will turn up.
