Amazon MAY have reserved extras for just such an occasion as they typically will do that, but I would under no circumstance send one back until you've got a replacement that is in BETTER condition in-hand if it bothers you that much.
My amazon one came with a VERY similar rip (but on the left not the right) and minor paint scratch on the right of the box. It seems par for the course with these. The other one (which I'm going to keep) hasn't arrived yet, so I'm hoping its in better condition than the first, though not very hopeful.
Regarding the steelbooks, I know you got those off ebay. How did the auction list the items? Were they listed as "mint" "brand new" "dent-free"? If so, you could probably complain, but otherwise probably don't have too much footing. You'd just have to be proactive in the future about contacting sellers and making sure of a) the condition is what you want/expect and b) the packaging/shipping is above adequate.
