Also, never get anything signed with a sharpie it will eventually fade, no amount UV protection will stop it, only slow it down.

I assume you have a preference for pen style/ink etc.

I remember reading about a dozen pages of a thread on a sports memorabilia forum where members suggested what exact pens they liked for signing specific stuff

High Gloss Posters and Pencils are usually a no-no

Same with steelbooks, and a bunch of other things people get signed

But if it's paper you would choose pencil over pen?

Mostly I get screen prints, giclees, and lithgraphs signed and it is pencil all the way if the medium allows it. Pencil doesn't fade or bleed and lasts forever. Most artists sign prints in pencil for this reason.

But like you mentioned not everything can be signed in pencil so I just make sure that I get a pigmented marker/pen that is fade resistant and I'll use it for signatures. No sharpies.

On a side note, I wish I had the time to go up to the Philadelphia Comic Con at the end of the month but work is kicking my ass at the moment. Most of the Firefly cast is going to be there damn it! Only 3 hours away.
