Re: Super smash bros bundle
Yeah, many selling already on eBay for ~$150+. This thing won't hold its value THAT long I imagine though since all the individual components can be bought seprately (unlike, say the ZeldaS Bundle like this).
I pre-ordered mine in store for a $5 deposit awhile back - had no issues, they had it in the back for me. So not likely that it was a online vs. in-store pre-order fiasco as some has claimed. And yeah, already got my CD order in!

Re: Super smash bros bundle
I ended up not buying the bundle because GameStop was sold out, but I had store credit. Still got all the parts of the bundle, though. About to go pick up the game, adapter, and two controllers!

Re: Super smash bros bundle
There is no reason it should hold much value than any other particular Nintendo 1st party title. I'm amazed how many people are willing to spend that much on it when there has been absolutely no mentioning of the word "Limited" from any Official source. As a matter of Fact best buy, Amazon, & Gamestop have all listed it out of stock and then obtained more stock several times since its announcement months ago. Every product contained in the bundle is still in stock and as anyone who has been around Nintendo isn't one to make anything very limited, but hell if people want to drop all the extra cash just to see they could have saved $50 bucks in a couple weeks thats their prerogative. It's just sad this aggressive reseller attitude makes it very frustrating for individuals who don't view games as trading cards and enjoy them for what they are making it harder and more expensive to obtain.

Re: Super smash bros bundle
You make some valid points there, but it is VERY unlikely that these will still be available anytime after Christmas. Also, even if they are, there is almost NO chance that they will ever decrease in retail value - Nintendo (primarily "first party") games almost are never on sale and even then are only a small percentage off. The MSRP typically does not decrease until the end of the platform's life or the beginning of the next.
I only paid around $60 for mine (the boxed bundle) which I felt was a fantastic price for a launch-day title of this caliber, and why I gladly ponied up the cash (or store credit @ BB). But regarding the contents, yes - there is nothing special about the $100 bundle except for the box and that it's basically $10 off MSRP for all the items separately. They have not advertised it as "limited" or "collectors" at all, so Nintendo could surprise us all and re-release the box set, but I believe that would be an absolute first (IIRC) for any bundle ever released by the company (though I'm willing to admit that they MAY have done it once or twice before, just can't recall it in my ~18yrs of being a fan).

Spoiler!
TL;DR: For my store at least I can guarantee this was the case, so if you see corroborating comments around the net, I would be inclined to believe them. You just have good karma Knight. Welcome. It does suck paying scalpers, especially when you do so knowing that their profit margin will be a lot higher than Nintendo's for example. No worries about being able to affordably obtain this particular Bundle's contents though, so that's a positive.

If NoA does indeed decide to produce more SSB Bundles it would be the first intelligent marketing/distribution move I'll have seen them make in a while.

Re: Super smash bros bundle
Heres the first hint from Amazon that more are on the way!
"In stock on November 27, 2014. Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information. Your account will only be charged when we ship the item. " As for being around past the new year we will have to See, Nintendo needs Wii-U sales in North America desperately right now and they just might milk it for all it's worth, I think they will keep producing while its Selling but with caution. No Nintendo 1st party titles typically do not lose much value, nor would I expect this title to be anything different, I just don't see paying more than a $100 being all that wise, though some simply aren't very patient. |
