I know this is abit not for here but on the last of us community on Facebook saw a guy post about having 45 clicker bust and it all looks genuine. But all of them Have no number at the bottom, is that something that happens. Could it be fake or studio leftovers?

It makes perfect sense if they're the manufacturer and not just a reseller - it's cheaper to buy from a retailer because they ship multiple in bulk and save on customs/shipping. They also have agreed demand/sales. With a one-off customer, you're on the hook for all the risk, all the hassle, and paying more to ship 100 pieces to 100 individual customers than to ship 1 lot of 100 to a retailer. So yes, it should be more expensive to sell direct than to buy from the retailer.

I personally see this as an easy and obvious thing.
No. The resellers probably get 30% off because they purchase in bulk and have favorable agreements. This is Business 101.

Now let's be clear, I'm not saying the shipping is anywhere near fair, because it's not. I've shipped an entire seat of a car US-->Netherlands which is much heavier than any statue and it was less than $100 with tracking.

So the re-sellers/retailers ship direct from factory just like PRIME 1 (they do not get their stock sent to their warehouse and then later sent to customers?... if this is the case does the factory that made them warehouse the unsold ones?)? If so that makes sense... but I still have doubts since unsold stock would need to go and be held somewhere and I feel the factory would not be willing to also warehouse and ship over long periods of time.

I get this and already know this (as you say that is simplistic business 101, the more you buy the better the deal) but I understood it as the retailers were shipping to warehouse and then after that customers which adds a whole other shipping layer to the re-sold one. My assumption could be wrong though but that is why I did not take your line of thought as it would not make sense if I am right about the shipping and warehouse issue.

EDIT:

I suppose it could be they all contract a warehouse together and share the warehouse burden and that warehouse then ships for them... but I have nothing to indicate this and I imagine this would have its own issues of who is responsible if something goes wrong (doesn't seem viable but who knows).

The way I know is:
1. Prime 1 allocates a certain amount of their stock to a Distributor
2. Distributor pics it up from Chinese factory
3. Retailer orders from Distributor
4. Distributor bundles up various orders from Retailers in the same region and ships them via ship.
5. Retailer receives them and sends it out to their customers.
(There may be exceptions, but I think this is the most common situation)

I'm not aware on how much customs and taxes a retailer has to pay when they receive their shipment, but it's probably way lower than what normal dudes like us pay.

That is pretty close to what I figured... I think. So PRIME 1 has less invested then a retailer... correct (due to the cost of shipping the allocated retailer stock?)? The retailers have an extra layer of shipping costs (albeit bulk shipping costs)?

That was all I was getting at. But even so it does not necessarily mean PRIME 1 would take that amount off theirs for consumers... but if they are not competitive they should IMO.

My best guess is, that they are racing to get different options up an running for customers world wide and don't bother with short term solutions.
But who know really. Good thing with P1 is though: Their edition sizes are usually so high, you don't have a rush on ordering. So I would just wait and see what happens.

I don't think P1 is having those insane shipping costs on purpose. FedEx is having insane shipping costs and P1 has to charge this price.

Of course they have no controll over customs duties. That's not their fault I understand. What I am really worried about is shipping not taxes.

What I think is dumb, is Prime 1 not offering any other option to Ship. Fedex is quick but it's expensive, it is THE most expensive option. How about DHL, EMS, or shipping via ship like their economy shipping to the US. That would help. But instead they keep dealing with fedex express and only them.

Sideshow, as a distributor, surely don't use Fedex to get their P1 pieces from Japan to their warehouse. I guess this stuff is shipped in containers via ship and takes months to arrive so they don't have to overpay.

Now there is still this thing about Sideshow taking a profit margin on the statues they sell. If P1 sells them their statues for 60% of the price, then they are probably not doing a lot of profit selling through Sideshow. I bet that's why they decided to open their international website. Sick of letting Sideshow take all the profit.

And if they sell us their stuff same price they sold to Sideshow (60% of the price or so) so we have cheaper prices OR reduce shipping costs at their own expense to get people to buy, then they are still not making a lot of profit from their own store, plus customers don't buy in bulk. So it ain't better for them than selling from Sideshow again.

So I guess that's why they are expensive as f.

If they want to make a fair profit in all of this and get people to buy they have no choice but offering different shipping options, the quick expensive ones and the slow, cheap ones, OR get warehouses in the US and EU, and these are two things they are working on currently.

Until then I am not buying from them, unless shipping is decent.

Shipping for a 1100 USD 1:3 batman to canada is 900 USD btw. How nice.
