They never announced that it would be a "separate statue" or that it would be "an exclusive statue" aside from the original. They announce it would be an artist proof. Some people tend to be extremely picky when it comes to the painting of the statues so they prefer an unpainted one and that's how the artist proof comes about.

They do it all the time... Scion (sub company to toyota) releases "limited" exclusives every time they release a new car... when in reality all they really are, are just differently painted cars.
