No, I feel your rant reaction is justified as part of the online buying experience does include proper shipment of product. It's not like going into a store and verifying your product before you walk out so we are left at the mercy of the retailer. Every business module, small or big, needs to cater to the after-sale support if they want to ensure repeat business. Otherwise, I'll wait until one of you guys decide to sell me your collection with knowing the fact that you will care for it when you ship.
