Have you actually played it, or just read the reviews?

Sure, the sound sucks on some of the emulated games, but the gameplay doesn't suffer at all on all the games I've played on it (other than Sonic 2 which had some issues with the resolution) and other than lack of HDMI the thing does as it's designed to.
