The authorization hold isn't always down to the company you pre order from, it is usually your bank who does it. Some people can pre order and not have the authorization hold happen, depending on which bank they're with. The funds don't stay held until release, they are what's called "ring-fenced" for usually a week, and then the hold drops off and your funds become available again
