That's usually what i do with all of my items, I usually open them with a set mind that i'm not going to sell them... but when the item is truly "rare" should one keep it sealed?

Yes if you have an eye on future value and the possible appreciation ( and there is nothing wrong with that because to some extent all collectibles are an investment) but if you want to really enjoy it then open it and appreciate it and accept that the drop in value is more than h it for the opportunity to enjoy it yourself...

The minute you drive a new car off a garage for court you lose the equivalent of the vat percentage as only new cars are vat exempt but it doesn't stop people lusting after brand new cars....
