Default Re: Share your Horror Stories of things that were damaged during shipment

Item: Shogun 2 GrandMaster Edition
Bought From: Amazon.de
Cost: 75 EURO (including shipping)
Shipped by: UPS

I received a delivery attempt note from UPS at about 1pm on August 18th with a $26 brokerage fee . I called UPS to see if the UPS delivery person can drop off the package at the warehouse so I can pick it up the next day. The warehouse ended up being about 15km away, but I was okay with that, and they confirmed that I was able to pick it up the next day from the morning. I went to the warehouse on August 19th at about 11am to pick up my package, turns out the driver did not drop off the package to the warehouse, so I would have to wait at home again. I was pretty upset since I had to travel pretty far for nothing. One of the nice UPS representative suggested that I can call the 1800 number so I can just pay off the COD brokerage , so the UPS delivery person can just drop off the package infront of my door without me being present. I made the call, and the CSR claims to have sent a message to my delivery person about my confirmation of pay. I got home at around 6pm that day, no packages has arrived, so I waited a bit more. A friend of mine came over at 7pm and noticed a delivery attempt note at the front of my door (UPS person for sure did not ring the doorbell, or else I would have heard). My friend also told me a UPS truck was still around the neighbourhood still delivery items. I decided to drive around to find the truck before more complications happens. I ended up finding the UPS truck and asked the delivery person for my shipment. The delivery person claims he never received a confirmation of me paying, so I had to pay again to get my shipment. Of course, I called UPS again to dispute one of the charges.

I brought the box home to examine it, it was in horrible conditions, the packaging was heavily damaged, and you can see the damage to the game itself without opening the box. I took these pictures to make my case against Amazon.de. I emailed them, and told them about my situation (took awhile to navigate through the German site).

First Email Response - They apologized and offered either a 9 EURO discount or a replacement

My Response - I told them I wasn't interested in a 9 EURO discount, and if I ship it back, it would be really expensive. Plus, I would have to pay the COD brokerage fee if I have to receive it again

Second Response - They told me they are going to forward the email to a more appropriate department for more consideration

Third Response - They ended up apologizing again and offered a FULL REFUND of 75 EURO, and that I do not have to ship back the items, because they won't have any use for a damaged product.

So in the end, I got this CE for just the brokerage fee of $26. The whole thing was a huge hassle, but I was still pretty happy about the outcome. I will try to fix the box as much as I can. The whole CE is absolutely beautiful, it is a shame it ended up being in this condition!
