Well for $930 you could get or build a monster of a gaming desktop. But for me I need and want a laptop, but they are always far more expensive comparatively.

Also I needed the laptop to make money with (my old one died for good this last time... could not even restore it), but I figured since I was getting a new one anyways I would look into getting one that I could game on as there are always a few PC games that interest me but I could never try them. Really was just looking for something to play things like League of Legends on full settings on and games like Torchlight 2. Funny thing is my old Dell Insprion 1525 with integrated intel graphics could play those games... LOL played actually quite well at mid-low settings. Torchlight 2 played at very low fps but still worked... really it was unplayable though. But looking into something for those games turned into finding the IdeaPad and then I had to have the best one... lol. So now I can play new games on high settings.

I even download Assassins Creed Black Flag to try on this, plays really well on high settings at 1080p. Can't go to all the highest settings one everything on that one though...

So exactly what is wrong with Windows 8 if you have it boot to the desktop per default?

I surely didn't have any problems with it.

Do you really want my personal opinion on windows 8?

Not really, that is to say, I don't need an entire essay on it

When I used it, I just had it boot to the desktop, and that was it. I never really got the Metro interface since I wasn't actually using a tablet and having access to my files was a nice thing.

I just do not like not having the old start button. But i have gotten to the point where I can easily navigate it now.
you took the words out of my mouth. i mean lets say from windows 97 to windows 7 the appearance of things and location of things haven't changed much.

Windows 8... it took me 20 minutes to try to find out where the control panel was... and I had to use google just to find out how to find it. I'm sure once you get used to it's interface it's ok, but fuck that I rather use windows 7. I mean most things that are out can still run on windows 7, so why should I get 8?

If I was to upgrade to 8 I would use unofficial programs to disable metro and add back the start button. MS compromised desktop usability to try and move the windows "ecosystem" closer together. They have since recanted on the start button and the auto-defaulting into metro on desktops. It was silly to compromise the usability of one platform just to make it closer to a tablet solution. Metro is awkward and clunky on a desktop. It makes sense for tablets and they'll never get it adopted by latop and desktop users in any important way.

Congrats on the new laptop, and for one hell of a price for sure

The specs are great and I like the way it looks.

I also agree that it's really funny how my Inspiron can run LoL just fine on med/low settings. I have thought about purchasing a gaming PC recently. but decided that since I will probably mostly play LoL on it and the casual indie games (like FTL....) I don't really need a super PC.

I might build a Gaming Desktop though while I'm still in school and submit it as "school" in my tax returns
I didn't consider a laptop because of their price to spec ration, but this one I like..

I know by casual you mean not demanding but in the traditional sense there is nothing casual about FTL

it's da hardcorez lol

Seriously though love FTL
