Default Re: Batman: Arkham Knight

During PAX this past weekend here in Seattle I was invited to an after hours party hosted by WB Games. While I was there I asked about the Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition and why it was canceled at the last minute. From what I was told by reps from WB Games that a large amount of them suffered "water damage". While they didn't go into too much detail what I got out of it was that either they were stored outside and took on water damage from rain before being put inside or where they were being stored in a warehouse took on a lot of water. I know it sounds rather odd but that is what they were told and in turn told us. When asked if we would ever see them released, I was told that it may happen eventually with regards to the ones that were salvageable.

I realize many are probably shaking their heads saying "WTF?" as I did the same thing, but I guess stranger things could happen. I would say it would have to have been a significant amount of water to cause that much damage to them. What was interesting is when they said its possible we may see some offered eventually, but I am not holding my breath for that day to come.

Probably the editions themselves (cardboard and paper) were what were damaged... the statues were more or less fine then. But they cannot sell waterlogged editions nor is it wort it to have a team take them apart to redo the soggy parts.

But I just want to see one some day

Yeah while they made it sound like the boxes got wet, perhaps it was worse than they led on, but still, one would think the Batmobile toy itself was salvageable. You never know perhaps WB will release them as just the toy only or something along those lines later to fans.

Yes but how often have you heard of companies salvaging parts of editions? It is just not in their business playbook... never happens at that scale of business. They do the math of the editions damaged to replacing those entire editions and then decide if it worth it or not.

This is why I really doubt they will let us get the non-damaged ones or the statues. They will just destroy it all... or at the very best case sell it as junk to someone in wholesale lots and we will get it second hand that way.

True, that could happen too, or they may have just taken a big insurance loss and destroy everything but I still would not be surprised if some eventually get out there on the secondary market.
