Ok so i now this is a very late reply

but this is my line of work
An uncorrected proof version is the version that has already been formatted (writers dont use always use paragraphs, etc) but the text itself has not yet been proof read.
Thus copies are normally sent out to the Publisher marketing and sales teams for them to see with what they are dealing with and prepare accordingly while the text is being proof read (it takes a long time and is boring as hell) and printed.
