Hmm I do order some Japanese games from HMV and they ship to Australia but haven't ordered a console from them before

Games are one thing, hardware is another. I think they fall into Non-Exportable. Try ordering it to your address and see if it goes through. I tried a UK and US address and failed. I'll try a HK one.

^^ If there is an Asian one then it'll definitely be cheaper. They're nearly always are.

The console is currently AVAILABLE for preorder at amazon.co.jp. You can set up an account at dv8cag.com and the guy will export it from Japan to you and charge you for the extra shipping costs. I've imported two Japanese PS3s from him in the past. He does a great job and doesn't overcharge you either.

How much was it from amazon.jp? [including shipping]

I think the eBay ones aren't too badly priced, especially if they have an "Asian" version. I got the white/pink one last year Asian version. Doesn't make any difference between that and a Japanese version imo. Looks the same and works the same but was over $100 cheaper

The price was 37 000 ish yen (roughly 485 AUD). Now ppl are selling it for 40000 plus yen. Ebay ones will roughly be 680 USD + shipping on top of that.
