Yeah the plastic wraps are a good idea, your right bubble wrap will leave a mark on plastic seal over time due to weight of books. If you stack them so no book is exerting weight on another then you will be ok. I.e on side.
Personally I used cardboard postage wraps Amazon and Play use. They have a flat edge but ofcourse they add alot to the overall size. LOL at VGA graded Book $500 joke.
