I got the vault bundle in today. The packaging/box makes a nice display..it's kinda how arcade stick boxes are...with the magnetic box flaps. It's also officially licensed :p

I opted for the HMV Limited Edition with SteelBook, and I have to say I was a little disappointed with what I received...

First of all, I had expected it to have been an all-in-one package, with the game sealed inside the SteelBook. This was not the case, and I was very surprised to receive two separate HMV boxes yesterday morning, one containing the LE copy of the game, and the other the SteelBook

Secondly, the SteelBook was not what I had expected. It was just pain black with the Battlefield 3 logo on the front, and some artwork inside. Pretty dull if you ask me, especially when I had expected the Battlefield 3 artwork to be printed on the front (similar to the Swedish MediaMarkt SteelBook)

So disappointed twice with this one. Had I known that the SteelBook was going to be separate, I would have probably just waited until it was released and bought the SteelBook on its own off eBay and then bought the game separately later on when all the hype had died down and the price drops. I'm not a fan of the Battlefield games at all, and didn't really want the game, but now I'm stuck with it.

Oh well, another lesson learnt, and one more mistake to add to the collection. I'm sure I'll recover from it soon enough and forget all about it, but it's times like this that make me wonder why I bother collecting when all I get is disappointment

Gemini-Phoenix, apart from the Future Shop one, I thought all others were the bland black one you received from HMV.

Why did you get it if you're not a fan of the Battlefield games? My advice, you need to make rules for your collecting, otherwise, where's the limit? Why didn't you get the press kit? Why didn't you go to E3 to get the T-shirt? Why didn't you get the limited poster? My rule is to limit myself to striving for only the best retail edition of the game and ignore all the other flair, including pre-orders. To me, from a collector standpoint, you shouldn't fuss over it since you're not even a Battlefield fan. I still have obsessive thoughts about somehow obtaining the Australian Limited Edition. Why? As a collector AND a Battlefield fan, that was the best all in one box retail edition. Something I do to cope when I don't get what I want is tell myself that every game or collector item has a story. I recently damaged the cardboard flap cover of my DX:HR CE, not even the box, just the flap that covers the box, and I obsess over buying another. Instead, I just tell myself to learn from that mistake and have the story to tell about why it's damaged, or now, why I didn't get the Australian limited edition.
