Definition of sub-standard packaging = the MGS box does not fit the delivery box and needs to be tilted diagonally.

Well, although we know more now than we did, I'm still a bit confused. Firstly I think i understand why my original order was never updated - probably to more easily identify the original 4k pre-orderers.

We're assuming that the original 4k are getting the PS3 STEELbook that was probably already produced before the goalposts were moved. But that doesn't explain the dusty copies because there was no t-shirt or artbook in the original LE . . .unless, of course, they pre-packaged the original steelies and stored them but then had to wait for the PS3 stickerbooks for the late-comers to be produced.

Make any sense . . .

I was yeah so won't be sending it back. Just wondering how they can still have that number unsold considering how limited this should be!

The cancellations must have been legendary although quite a few might have defected to the 360 version.

Yes mine was also packed diagonal and arrived smashed on the corner with other creases for good measure.....Haha i cannot get mad anymore i find this quite amusing now

So let me get this straight - Those who pre-ordered the PS3 version from last year are receiving SteelBooks, as well as an additional MGS 4 game; but those who ordered the recently altered CE are receiving StickerBooks? That doesn't sound right. From what I can tell, all the boxes look the same, so how would they be able to tell the difference?


I actually received two PS3 ones this morning straight after I made my last post. I now have two X360 (one damaged and probably going back) and two PS3. I was also very surprised that the MGS 4 Platinum games arrived sealed, although only one of them was a legit factory seal with official PS3 tearstrip

After seeing the hard-boxed American CE, I was quite disappointed with the presentation of this CE. I had expected something more sturdier, much like the Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus CE box from last year. Now that was one nicely presented CE!

Funny that you mention this. The first two which I received (X360) on Monday came in long flat boxes. The other two which I received (PS3) this morning came from an entirely different distributor, packed in an entirely different kind of box (like the ones you described, cubic box and tilted diagonally), and via a different courier. Go figure!

Neither packaging method was ideal to be perfectly honest, and one of each kind were were split upon receipt and I was very surprised that the contents hadn't fallen out in transit! I had a similar experience with PLAY.com last year in regards to the InFamous 2 Hero Edition, where the packaging had split entirely and the box was practically hanging out for all to see!

So far, no PS3 stickerbook exist...we have seen only pictures of PS3 as printed steelbook.

We have seen only pictures of XBOX as a stickerbook...no sign of printed steelbook for XBOX.
