Update on Assassin’s Creed III Special Edition Exclusivity

For us here in the States, the previously-revealed Freedom Edition of Assassin’s Creed III will be exclusive to GameStop. The Freedom Edition will feature a Connor figurine, a steel book case, an exclusive lithograph, George Washington’s notebook (which contains “revealing all the truth & secrets about the Assassins and the Templars during the American Revolution”), and two bonus single-player stages: Lost Mayan Ruins and Ghost of War.

Hey matrix, is this for real? Does this mean all the US members who scurried around trying to preorder Freedom from Europe or Australia didn't have to? I don't see any placeholder at Gamestop.com yet...

Yeah, I caught wind of this as well. I am willing to bet it's genuine but I'm waiting for a hardcore facts release before doing anything. No word yet confirmed or not though on the Join or Die Edition. I wonder if that will stay a EU only release? hmmmm time will tell.

Update: We previously incorrectly stated that the Freedom Edition would be available in the United States. That edition of Assassin’s Creed III will only be offered at GameStop in the UK.

Well it looks like I was spot on, it was Gamestop UK and Not USA store.

That makes perfect sense to make a collector's edition for a game set in the American Revolution, featuring several important people in American history, the American flag on the artwork, and George Washington's notebook and make it unavaiable in America.
Maybe the next game will take place in the French Revolution and the CE will not be sold in France.
