I would bet on thick cardboard or some hardened paper. At least in Freedom Edition's case.

That's disappointing. 1 of the reasons why I got both editions was because of the collectors box.. But the medallion looks bigger than what I expected.

I quite like thick cardboard boxes with some embossed logos or something like that (Diablo 3 CE, Heroes 6 CE etc.). It seems to me they look really beatiful - I'm big fan of box art (box design) as well.
