Default Shelving suggestions

So I need some shelving suggestions... My collection keeps growing and I barely have enough room to hold them all nevermind display them the way I'd like to.

finding shelves for regular DVD-sized games is easy... it's the big box CEs that cause me problems.

I bought an IKEA LACK bookcase the last time I was there, and that works pretty well (I might buy another one) but the shelves I think are too tall and too deep for most CEs, it's way too much height for most games, but not enough to stack games on top of each other.

^As you can see it's perfect for the Halo Legendary Editions, it would also be perfect for stuff like Rock Band or console boxes if I were to display those.

but it's way too big for most of the other CEs like those Assassin's Creed CEs, Call of Duty CEs, Fallout CEs etc.

-----------------

So... anyone have a good shelving recommendations?

Have you ever considered doing something yourself? Or just designing it for someone to build for you. I know DIY isn't everyones cup of tea but you would get what you want

Since you have access to an IKEA then you should look for those shelves that are adjustable. Then you could have the shelves at the bottom the ideal size for the big CEs, medium tall shelves in the middle and a DVD-sized shelf on the top (or any combination that you want).

Billy bookshelves from IKEA. Plenty of shelves and they're a good size for standard size CEs and normal games.

I previously had this problem when designing my collection room. There just doesn't exist anything suitable for massive game / Dvd / CD collections. The biggest shelving units I could find were large bookshelves, which were far too deep for my needs, and didn't come with enough shelves.

I would definitely recommend getting shelving that is consistent throughout your room. It's obvious that you've added shelving as and when needed, as I am sure many collector's do whenever their collection expands. Try and keep it all looking the same

If I were you, i'd hire a skilled carpenter or DIY expert (Maybe a family member?) to knock you up something bespoke. It's the only way you're going to get the exact shelving space you require. Looking back at my own room and how large my collection has grown in the last two years, I am thinking that maybe this is the route I should've taken, as I don't have anywhere near the shelving space I need anymore!

In the end, I opted for five glass-fronted Dvd units, plus my own shelves from a DIY store above them. The units are Ok, but I have found that the shelves inside are just cheap chipboard, and they do tend to bow in the middle. I really need to get around to changing those to hardwood.

I also knew I wanted glass doors to protect the contents from dust and people's curious fingers

My three tips for you are:

* Make sure your shelving matches!
* Make sure the shelves you choose are hardwood, or else they'll sag and look horrible!
* Consider sliding glass doors to protect your collection, and make it look more uniformed

seconded. I have 2 book cases similar to these (ones that come with a front panel). They are very nice and the shelves can be moved around to fix larger boxes.
