I thought it was just a standalone version, guess it will be bundles with these games anyways then? If not, why would these Dev Team Editions be sold in this way?.

I like this CE, and I like this idea.
I've thought about this long ago, where developers/publishers offer the CE individually without the game so that we may have the option/choice of the CE we want instead of having to purchase every variations and different CE released locally and regionally (specially for our favourite franchises).

I encourage other developers to release this type of CE as well as making available for everyone and anyone to purchase.

This was explained by Ryan's post (Treehouse dude) from Page 11 of this thread.

None of the game bundle orders will come with the game inside the box anyway, they'll come separated from the Dev Team CE.
