I don't think they are selling left covers
I think they where always intended to be sold
And later it was decided to give them away at e3 as a promo item
(Maybe because they where not allowed a merchandise stall)

Yep I have just missed out on a tee shirt because when the added the journal they removed a tee shirt I had in my basket
And I have missed out on 2 things before from them for the same reason

I think Ubiworkshop will stock their new comic, AC Brahmin, soon. They just teased it again.

Also there'll be a special short manga for Edward in the Jump magazine
