Re: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
I was thinking about it too but I probably be hit by customs too, although as I said before it was nice but at 3x the price + shipping and customs is killing it for me

Re: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
I purchased mine from Best Buy. I posted a message regarding my broken statue on their forum. I find that it's often easier dealing with BB employees through the forum rather than calling. I also emailed WB games about the situation.

@KnightOfTruth: No, the PS4 and PC versions have a different foam, only to accommodate the game/steelbook and the medallion.
Edit: The PC version comes in two game cases, so the cut is deeper, all the way to the cardboard box. Here's a picture of mine: Last edited by GODZYLLA; 05-24-2015 at 09:29 PM. |

Re: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
So, since a lot of us can pretty much agree that the paintjob on the statue is quite horrendous I thought 'Screw it, I have nothing to lose,' I borrowed a whole box of Games Workshop paints from my friend and decided to take a shot at re-painting some of the worst spots. Unfortunately I forgot to take a 'before' photo, but let's just say that I got one of these:
http://i.imgur.com/XeCosYY.jpg Here are the results: Face & Torso: http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0123.jpg I ended up re-painting the entire face because there was a complete black and red mess around the eyes and mouth. I re-painted most of the hairline and beard because it was mostly gray without any texture with some haphazard white paint application. I left the eyes black because it doesn't really look that bad and I was a bit scared to go for realistic looking eyes. There was scattered paint on his collar so I re-painted that too, as well as most of the 'leather' and the 'metal' parts on it, and the necklace (it was almost completely black). Oh, and I gave Geralt some eyebrows Head Back: http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0125.jpg Added some texture to that dark gray mess on the back of his head. I also restored some of his hairline behind his ear, since it made sense to me and it's kinda visible in the sculpt. This could look better, but I think it's definitely an improvement over the original. Griffin Head: http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0124.jpg I kept the color of the inside of his mouth and repainted the tongue with a richer red with some added texture and gloss. Silver Sword: http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0126.jpg Mine came completely and by that I mean completely black. No silver, no red. So I just re-painted it to hopefully look like it's silver and added some blood splotches courtesy of the 'Blood for the Blood God' paint from GW. Sheathed Sword Hilt: http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0128.jpg This was a relatively small detail. Since the hilt of the sword seems to be made of leather in the game I painted it light brown and dry-brushed it with a darker color later. These are the biggest changes I made. I also added a bit more gray to some of the Griffin's feathers with dry-brush techniques. There are a lot of air-brushed areas on the statue that would deserve a touch-up as well, but that's beyond my skills. As bad as the statue looked in the beginning, I can say I'm finally happy with it. Also, I'd like to say that that this is my first time customizing a figure/statue - and holy crap, it was a lot of fun. Let me know what you guys think! UPDATE - FINAL VER.: http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0143.jpg Added some detail (gloves, griffin feathers etc.), corrected further paint errors and re-painted doublet to better match in-game appearance (previous version seemed too dark green). I also didn't like the red stain on the griffin's butt so I did this: http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/IMG_0138.jpg Last edited by CloudyMemory; 05-28-2015 at 06:55 PM. |

Re: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Looks great! Awesome job!
Wish I had painting skills. I am good at modifying and fixing things but paint has never been a strong point.

Re: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Ah, it really is better, isn't it? I've got the same setup with mine.
(Don't worry, I'm not a fanboy of any, just prefer my PS4 to Xbone. ) I was wondering this too, and to back-up the answer above, I looked up a couple of PS4 unboxings and yeah, it just has holes cut for the game/steelbook and in the middle below that there's one for the medallion. |

Good job on that repaint CloudyMemory, looks a hell of a lot better. The original is shockingly bad, what were they thinking?

Anyway, regardless of the sub-par paint job on the statues, I really like this CE. ^^
