They are really sketchy - I did some reach and saw a few Reddit post discussing this. Their website wasn’t registered until a few days ago, and nobody knows who they were. They posted this on their Twitter but now their Twitter account is gone.

Although I really don’t hope so, I think they are a scam. I’d recommend watching the credit card you used to order this very closely if you don’t want to lock your card and get a new number.

They are new. If they were a scam doing only 300 models would not make sense. Shutting down orders would not make sense. Not sure why they needed to be up for years to take them seriously on something super small like this. Reddit is just looking for a reason to think this was noting to begin with so they will feel better that they did not ruin getting one by threatening to kill the owners lol.

But yeah better safe then sorry I just do not agree with your reasoning. Nothing about this seems illegitimate. In fact seems they went out of their way to be super transparent and fair and issues stemmed from the fact they have never done this before.

I do see that new image you posted says it is for sure all were cancelled. I also get why they are hesitant now. People legit are threatening people over PS5s.

The image they used wasn't even their own image. They stole a fan made concept off of Reddit. If that doesn't say sketchy, I don't know what would.

i read some other users comments stating it is basically a phishing scam possibly? to package personal data and credit card numbers and sell them off to sleazy folks in exotic locales who thrive off of committing fraudulent acts..again, it was some other person speculating because of how suddenly the company changed gears..if they were "credible" threats as stated..then they should immediately contact authorities and their internet service providers and not bend or succumb to degenerates...i find it hard pressed to believe that a small group of folks were making a new company from scratch and somehow were "guaranteed" access to 300 PS5 units!?, all at once too basically!?..that they went ahead! and posted pre-orders!!?...when majority of major retailers still are struggling to even get 1-4 units in stock per store!.and these major retailers have direct relationships with official SONY distributors too!..none of this makes sense!..other than some "scheme" to collect personal data!? perhaps?..i am just paraphrasing what other's have stated on different forums.

I understand your suspicion, but there are better ways and more "profitable" ways of doing a phishing scam.

I mean you can say that but I would need to see the documented evidence to take this as fact. Not saying it's not true just saying I do not take hearsay as fact.

I never got to payment so I did not even know what payment options they offered. PayPal usually is a safe bet but I have no idea if they offered that or not.

The guy did an image on Photoshop, people liked it and from that, he decided to build a company and sell them?
WTF???
