Default The Art (we may never get)

We collect art in the form of lithographs, giclees, metallic prints and so on.

Most of these are pretty great, but every now and then it seems like there are missed opportunitues. There's plenty of great concept art out there, yet only some makes it as actual prints we can buy.

There's plenty of reasons for this; some logic, others not so much.

I personally follow:

- CGHub
- Concept Art World
- Dead End Thrills
- Kotaku - Fine art

If you know of great concept art for games that was never actually made available as prints post it, the same goes if you know of great artists on CGHub or other sites like that who do concept art for video games.

Or if there's some more current concept art that you'd like to see as a print.

It doesn't have to be concept art, it's just that most lithographs etc. are made from concept art.

Here's a few examples. I don't think these exist as prints, correct me if I'm wrong. For full resolution you have to click the image and download.

?

Gilles Beloeil - La clairiere

Craig Mullins

Beats the hell out of that "Collectors" lithograph.

Mikko Kinnunen - ME3- Crucible

Craig Mullins

Matt Rhodes - Illusive Office

Mikko Kinnunen - ME3 - Teaser matte concept

Mikko Kinnunen - Reapers

I much prefer this over the "Reaper Attack" lithograph.

Gilles Beloeil - San Marco

?

They aren't all perfect, but I like them.

Turns out you can buy some of those AC-prints, they cost a fortune (around 1650 euro).

That Craig Mullins ME2 piece was a poster for a while.

One of the issues here is that a lot of concept art is done by outside shops, or by freelancers. So when the game actually does come out and it's appropriate to start doing prints, the original artist is long gone and the game company has a hard time tracking them down for permission/release/signatures. We've had a few really cool pieces killed on account of some un-amicable splits, too.

A few of those ME3 ones were my favorites from when we were going through the art book, and I lobbied for them to be lithos....

Via the links you'll get very high-res for TR.

Some of the TR-shots have been available in limited editions for conventions, but I thought I might as well post them.

Dead End Thrills = Super optimized screenshots.

I don't know if I'd want this first one as a print. I just found it "funny" how much it resembled a piece by Syd Mead, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Briam Sum - The Presidium

Syd Mead

Brian Sum - The Citadel Flux

Brian Sum - Reaper invasion - London

Better than the "Mako" lithograph in my opinion.

Alex Figini - Citadel Wards Slums

Alex Figini - Citadel Casino

I think Mullins and boleill do excellent concepts and I think they are contracted in part to ubi as I look through there work and most of it is for them and I love all of it

I guess we all want to see this as a print at some point.

And considering how the Bungie store had the concept art by Jaime Jones, I guess there's a chance of that.

That piece would be awesome in a large format, and I don't even play Zelda.

Marek Okon

He also did this fanart of Elizabeth. It's not official, but does that really matter when it's this good. I guess it's based on the idea that

These two up for auction about a week ago.
Went for pretty good price
Both were signed by Darrell Gallagher, Noah Hughes and Rhianna Pratchett.
Tomb Raider 'Crossroads' went for whopping 510 GBP
Tomb Raider ?Tourniquet? went for 392 GBP

Wonder who's win it.
Tourniquet

Crossroads

For me, I'm more interesting in Courage edition that put up at the same time.
