PC Super Meat Boy gets super special edition and super cover art

Super Meat Boy may already be available through digital download services on PC, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t get a Special Edition copy from Team Meat official web site sometime in early 2011.



Apparently, it will not only have some behind-the-scenes content along with the game, but a special cover featuring* artwork from Dave Rapoza.

Here’s the official blurb from the Team Meat:

This cover will be placed on our upcoming PC boxed release that will be printed and sold independently through our site. This “Special Edition” PC version will feature the exact same game as you’ve played on steam, but it will also come packed with special features like behind the scenes videos, design sketches, illustrations and never before scene cutting room floor characters, art and the like.

We hope to have the printed version out by the end of Jan. after the level editor is out, it will probably sell for around 20-25 bucks depending on the final price of the printing.

I did email the developer about the limited edition and they said they are working on it. One thing I did mention is put out special package based on blood like Ichi the Killer Blood Bag DVD cover

It's called the "Rare Edition", so i'm wondering whether that is actually accurate and it will indeed be rare, or whether that is just a piss-take and there will be millions of them?

I don't usually buy PC games, but for £20 I don't mind taking a punt. Cult favourites are always a good choice for posterity, and if it does indeed turn out to be quite rare and sought after, then i'm happy.

I just hope it arrives in good condition...

I would suspect that "rare" is being used as a pun... as in it's a game about uncooked meat; not anything to do with the edition's scarcity.
