Arrow IL-2 STURMOVIK: Cliffs of Dover to launch on March 25

Fromvg247

Ubisoft announced today that IL-2 STURMOVIK: Cliffs of Dover is to hit PC on March 25, a Battle of Britain affair taking in British, German and the Italian forces.

If you want a boxed copy, you’re going to have to buy it from the Ubisoft store. You’ll be able to download it as well, obviously.

According to the press release, this is what you’re going to get:
  • New aircraft: Incredibly detailed true-to-life modeling of aircraft systems based on thousands of hours of dedicated research. Every single aircraft component can be damaged for realistic and immensely satisfying results.
  • Flyable aircraft – Over a dozen famous and highly detailed English, German and Italian aircraft available, with all crew positions open to players. All flyable aircraft have been painstakingly researched, resulting in incredibly accurate cockpit interiors.
  • Non-flyable aircraft –13 additional AI-controlled aircraft are also available, created with the same attention to historical accuracy, for an even more varied and immersive combat environment.
  • Exciting Single-Player Campaign – The campaign thrusts the player into the middle of the battle. The player will join the British Air Force to fight the German forces and renegade pilots on his own side.
  • Massive multiplayer – Customizable modes range from simple deathmatch-style free-for-alls to epic, ongoing 128 player battles that can last hours, days, weeks, or even longer.
  • Interactive training – Comprehensive interactive training for new players – fly a real WWII trainer plane with a computer controlled instructor through a series of training missions.
  • Brand new setting – The battle will take place on a large area spanning London and southern England in the north, to Northern France and Belgium in the south. The huge map will contain thousands of historical cities, towns, roads, airfields, radar stations, ports, and industrial areas – all located exactly where they were in 1940.
  • New 3D engine – Latest-gen graphics engine with DX10 and DX11 API support. Huge variety of photorealistic ground vehicles, buildings and other environmental elements recreate minute details of 1940s Europe.
  • Customizable difficulty – Dozens of realism options allow newcomers to the franchise to reduce the difficulty and focus on the fun while learning the ropes of being a pilot.
A Collector’s Edition will also be available, featuring:

  • The game.
  • “A cloth pilot escape map,” showing “Battle of Britain strategic locations.”
  • A replica of the Pilot’s Notes on the Spitfire I Aeroplane, provided to RAF pilots during The Battle of Britain and reprinted from the RAF Museum original document.
  • A 150-page ring binder of pilot instructions.

All this stuff included sounds great. I love it when a CE packs in items that fit in perfectly with what the game itself represents. Well done, Ubisoft!

Am I missing something or has anyone seen an English-language Collector's Edition (or any boxed edition for that matter) anywhere? As far as I know the Russian boxed version has been out for a while, Amazon.de has the German collector's edition in stock and I just noticed the digital version appearing on platforms like Steam. But I can't find any pre-order or mention of an English boxed copy anywhere...

It does state in the second line above that the UK Edition which will be English can only be purchased from UBIshop direct.

See thread below:-

The only other English version would be Austrialia which can only be purchased from ebgames.com.au, see link below:

As this is a PAL exclusive it won't available in North America.

Thanks for your reply. Noticed that the Ubi store redirected me away from the UK version so it is impossible for me to purchase there directly. Found one on eBay though.

Yeah the Ubishop will redirect you to your region store instead, The retail price is £49.99 GBP. So make sure not to pay too much more than this otherwise it's a rip off.

Which country are you from, maybe other members are also interested in importing so could save on postage.

It's already on it's way from the UK to the Netherlands. Postage fortunately isn't that high though. Seems like an acceptable (and at the moment only) option provided sellers will be offering them at reasonable prices.

The only one I can find is this one. Its $180 + $70 shipping. Ridiculous, the worst part is the guy has sold 1.

Ouch that's expensive, as it's the Australasian version it's expensive in the first place. But $70 shipping is high also. I guess if no one else is exporting then you have no choice. I would wait or even put down thread in the wanted section of this forum that you want a copy, I sure there are few members here in the UK willing to help you out.
