Two Worlds II release delayed

Two Worlds II was originally due out today, 4th February 2011, but the release date seems to have slipped. I received an eMail from GAME the other day stating that the date had slipped to the 18th of February, and then another yesterday informing me that the release date had slipped to the 25th of February!

Since the boxes were not made of glass, we can only guess that either the ship survived the perfect storm or somebody forgot to line the crates with old newspaper!

Two Worlds II, originally planned for a February 4 release, will now be out February 25. Unless a truck explodes or the printing place is overrun with locusts.

Two Worlds II had, once upon a time, been an autumn 2010 title. In fact, Two Worlds II was an autumn 2010 title in mainland Europe, where many versions of the games packed a complimentary, fully-voiced English language option.

SouthPeak - then UK publisher of Two Worlds II - held back the launch to avoid a jam-packed autumn season.

It's a disappointing saga that detracts from what has been crowned an accomplished and ambitious RPG adventure. There's a beefy multiplayer component, which is unusual, and the crafting system is brilliant. And if there can be any positive drawn from the slippery release-date slope, it's that TopWare now has time to make good on the promise of a patch to fix combat issues like blocking and levelling in multiplayer.

Having pre-ordered the Royal Edition from GAME, i'm not sure what to think now. Do I still want a game which has been involved in this sort of accidental damage? What editions of the game are actually damaged, and what proportion?

This also makes me wonder why the games weren't printed in Europe in the first place?

I would definitely demand a refund or replacement if this were to occur.

You think that's bad, on the box itself there is 4 languages, the first is english with a GB flag.

^the USA release is the same way it's got English (with GB Flag), French, German and Spanish

and it advertises that the game can be played in English, French, German, Spanish or Italian.

it's pretty rare for a US release to be available in more than just English. On RARE Occasion you'll get some french in the title because in certain parts of Canada they require the cover to include french and English language.... but it's not often that the game will actually be in French for them... if it is they usually signify the languages with the US and Canadian flags... not GB and FR

From what I've been told by some of my Canadian friends most publishers get around the law by putting a crappy French language "wrapper" over the US version of the game box (but under the shrink wrap)... which most Canadian buyers throw straight in the trash

Of course there are some games that actually get a completely different cover in Canada for this reason, the most notorious example I can think of is this:



I'd love to get in touch with some Candian CE collectors to see if any of the CEs received alternative french box art.
