Convincing retailers to price match via Twitter
Hey guys. I require some support from you lot in regards to contacting various retailers via Twitter and trying to convince them to price match specific CE's which are significantly cheaper on other retailer websites
At the moment I am trying to get GAME (http://twitter.com/Gamedigital) to price match two items with ShopTo.net (http://twitter.com/Shoptonet) who are considerably cheaper: Firstly, the Duke Nukem Forever: Balls Of Steel Edition for PS3 & X360 GAME's price is £74.99 for these two (Where the X360 version seems to be sold out already on pre-orders), and £59.99 for the PC version GAME PS3 - http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PlayStat.../?s=duke+nukem GAME X360 - http://www.game.co.uk//Xbox360/Shoot...Steel-Edition/ GAME PC - http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PC-Games.../?s=duke+nukem Whereas ShopTo.net are offering this edition for only £64.85 for the PS3 and X360 versions, and only £48.85 for the PC version: ShopTo PS3 - http://www.shopto.net/PS3/VIDEO%20GA...20Edition.html ShopTo X360 - http://www.shopto.net/XBOX%20360/VID...20Edition.html ShopTo PC - http://www.shopto.net/PC/VIDEO%20GAM...20Edition.html In addition, HMV are selling the console versions for only £64.99, which is a whole £10 cheaper than GAME! ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- Secondly, the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Collector's Edition for the PS3 and X360 GAME are offering the PS3 and X360 versions for £99.99, and the PC version for £89.99 GAME PS3 - http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PlayStat...808/?s=deus+ex GAME X360 - http://www.game.co.uk/Games/Xbox-360...807/?s=deus+ex GAME PC - http://www.game.co.uk/PC-Games-and-D...809/?s=deus+ex Whereas ShopTo are offering the PS3 and X360 versions for only £84.85, and the PC version for £74.86! SHOPTO PS3 - http://www.shopto.net/PS3/VIDEO%20GA...20Edition.html SHOPTO X360 - http://www.shopto.net/XBOX%20360/VID...20Edition.html SHOPTO PC - http://www.shopto.net/PC/VIDEO%20GAM...20Edition.html Now I would like to ask anyone here who has a Twitter account whether they are able to support me and give me some back-up in order to try and get GAME to price match with ShopTo and other retailers! Between these two games alone, if bought from ShopTo.net, that's a saving of over £25! That's almost a whole other game! Yet GAME will not likely budge on their prices unless they receive significant public call to do so, which is where you guys come in! PS. If you would like to follow me on Twitter, then drop me a PM and i'll give you my Twitter username |

Re: Convincing retailers to price match via Twitter
This is a great idea, however I'm having issue with this stupid thing.
I leave a tweet but nothing turns up for at least 24hours, must be doing something wrong. Everyone should this. |

Re: Convincing retailers to price match via Twitter
I sent GAME an eMail via their website about price matching the Duke Nukem Forever Balls Of Steel Edition and Deus Ex: Human Revolution CE with ShopTo.net, but I received an eMail back informing me that GAME do not price match with online competitors, and only price match with WHSmiths and HMV within a certain range (Ie, the same town)
I'm pretty disgusted with their reply to be honest, when you consider that the difference for these two CE's between GAME and ShopTo is £25 in total! It's not as if i'm making a fuss about a quid here or a quid there - This is some serious difference, and they shouldn't be allowed to sell an identical item for considerably more, especially considering the prices are there on public display for all to see! And they wonder why they're losing so much business to ShopTo? I am sure ShopTo will sell out of these first, and only then will people turn to GAME to obtain these editions. Anyone with any sense will clearly pre-order at ShopTo |

Re: Convincing retailers to price match via Twitter
Gemini, you're barking at the wrong tree. They're never gonna do price match.
GAME is well known for it's ridiculously high prices (especially for brand new games & collector's/limited editions). But...to be fair, they have some rather sweet deals from time to time. Recently I picked up Bulletstorm EE, Black Ops & WoW: WoTLK for really good prices. |

Re: Convincing retailers to price match via Twitter
It's just not right! They shouldn't be allowed to sell the exact same CE for £15 more than another site without due justification. That's known as ripping people off! Yet they don't seem to care about the threat of customers cancelling their order.
What pisses me off even more is that after ShopTo have sold out, GAME will likely still have these in stock, and will probably reduce them by 50% within three weeks in order to clear them. So if they can do that, then why can't they price match and stand a chance of selling them on pre-orders? I really don't understand their business logic sometimes |

Re: Convincing retailers to price match via Twitter
It seems they don't understand it either. They continue to lose money (-15% in the last quarter).

I recently posted this in another thread (Ace Combat: Assault Horizon), but thought it was worthy of reposting here:
