Unhappy *Help!* Buying from Allegro (Poland)

Hello there,

I recently found something I wanted to buy from Allegro (Polish ebay essentially), set up an account (though only about 24 hrs ago, and its 'unregistered'), and figured I'd be able to pay through credit card via their Pay U system.

However, after clicking 'buy now' it turns out I have to use a Polish/European bank account to complete the purchase cause credit card purchases aren't allowed for PC games?

I know I know, stupid of me, should've read all the terms and stuff before hand. Its only a $16 transaction, so its not like its the end of the world if it doesn't work out, though it would be a shame and I'd feel kind of bad about it.

So I was wondering if anyone here who had any experience with Allegro (I've seen other forum members bring it up from time to time?) would have any idea how I might resolve this?

Thanks!

For international customer you should now be able use the Tradus base sites which took over Allegro . The benefit is that all the sellers should be able to accept Payu payments.

Are you stuck at the verification stage?

Hey, thanks for resonding .

I'm afraid I don't speak Polish so I've sort of been using google translator and figuring my way through things.

When I go into the 'pay' page, where I select my shipping options it says 'the item you have selected can not be paid for by credit card, please select another option'. And then has a large list of different European banks I can select (none of which I have an account with) or (I realised since posting) a direct bank transfer option.

I can do the direct bank transfer, but the transfer fees are more than I'm paying for the item, and my bank tells me his bank may deduct more fees on his end so he may not even get all the money I send him (perhaps I've got this the wrong way around? I've never done an international bank transfer before ), so I'd like to avoid it if possible?

How do you access this Tradus base site? And what are my options with it?

Thanks again!

Shaun

Tradus is a main store front, which took over Allegro and gave it the payu option, if you have already won an auction in Allegro then you will have to complete the transaction with them.

Are you using google chrome which translate the page in real time? that should help considerably.

It looks like the seller has restricted payment to options that don't deduct fees, i.e bank transfer. The only cost for the seller is the exchange rate, which you have no control, you just need to ensure you send enough to get the correct amount in their account.

One thing to note is that Allegro Buyer Protection Program works with bank transfers aswelll, unlike ebay which is only paypal. But there are restrictions.

Your only choice is to contact the seller to see if they can help.

Here is the safety centre, open it in google chrome which will translate for you.

Personally, if you are unable to pay using payu or credit card and you are not too fuss about not getting the item. I would contact the seller and say to cancel the order. Better to be safe than sorry, not a big fan of paying through bank transfer myself. The choice is yours of course.

Alternatively, try to enlist the help of a polish member on the forum.

Sorry I can't be more help.
