I think 5000 is a nice number, it wont make it megarare, but enough to keep at least its value.

On a second note, i think it would be really great to have an exclusive unboxing/interview/reveal or something like that. Would be very awesome if something like that would be possible!

For me personally it would be also very interesting to see how you come up with a CE, how do you determine what you will include. And maybe to see items/idea's that didnt make the cut or see the prototype of items you worked on...stuff like that is super interesting.

We're working on something like this. You can see the first prototype marker in Jed's hands during one of the interviews in the video....

Consider that the game will be selling millions of copies, and most collector's editions at retail are editions of hundreds of thousands. We tried to strike a nice balance between having it feel exclusive while not excluding _everyone_.

They're all numbered, but no, they aren't likely to be sent out in a specific numbered order. They will be mailed out in roughly the same order they were purchased, so if we can't get all of them in the mail on the first day, the earliest adopters will [largely] be sent first. The boxes are going to be sealed when they get to our warehouse, though, so we won't know what the numbers are before we mail them.

No, combining shipping isn't possible because the Dev-Team edition is shipping in its own box. And specifically, those two products are being housed at different warehouses, so they couldn't ship together even if we had a box big/safe enough to combine them.

Essentially, yes. But not with exact mathematical rigidity.... And also note that the order in which they ship is not the same as counting from the low numbers to the high numbers. Chaos is inherent in the system.

This is a better question to ask directly of customer service, because they're the ones that will actually do whatever you might need done, and so know the full story better.

If you've already bought a copy with the game and would like to change your mind, they can potentially help you out with that.

If you've noticed that, after things sold out, we suddenly have a copy available with a game but you don't actually want the game, that's going to end up biting us. We had to order a fixed number of games ahead of time, so now we've got them on order and paid for. Since we can't sell the game by itself, if we move the inventory split around now to accommodate that we'll have to eat the full cost of the game.... So I haven't heard if we have an official policy on this yet, but if you try to do it, you'll either be told no or you'll have to sleep at night knowing we lost a good deal of money on your order.

I tried changing my order from add-on with the game, to just the add-on version, and the customer service people told me that this was not possible.

They told me that the only way to do something like this would be to cancel my entire order, and re-order only the add-on version.

I didn't do this for fear of missing out on the edition altogether.

At this point, since it's sold out, there's probably no way to change an order.

Ask customer service though. You never know.

We don't always get good international tracking information.

MSI often does have some tracking, though. When I built the Wheres My Stuff page (http://treehousebrandstores.com/wheresmystuff/), I had to exclude MSI packages because the tracking link included final delivery address, and that felt like too much information to give out for just an order number you could guess at.

If your package hasn't shipped yet, customer service has no additional information for you.

If your package has shipped, they _might_ have some additional information, but they won't be able to get back to you right away on account of still being slammed with cases (and a gang of new requests for tracking info is only going to slow them down more). Also, it's a weekend, so they won't get back to anyone until Monday. I guess what I'm saying is, you can open a ticket and have someone look up your order, but please understand that they're not going to get back to you immediately and while I understand where your excitement is coming from, repeated requests is only going to make their lives harder....

I will look up a few orders this weekend if you guys want to PM your order numbers.

This was passed down from our shipping company and we have no real control over it. MSI claims they had too many problems with customs when shipping to PO boxes, so they refuse to do it, and we can't make them. Apparently, the "workaround" our shipping company provides is to ship by another method, but if it's refused or has any problems, we can't replace or refund the order. I'm told there is at least one repeat customer who opts for this "you're on your own" scenario every time and has not had a problem yet, but most people just give us a physical address and then things work out in the end.

The obvious alternative is for us to stop using MSI, but this apparently would mean a fairly substantial rate hike that we would have to pass on to you guys, which is not something anyone really wants.

Did I mention we're actively looking into other options to do international distribution better?

Why won't treehouse ship to an Aussie post office box? I've never had any problems, and getting things shipped to my home address is really annoying
I went through this with Ryan the other day and got my order changed to my home address. I always prefer to have things delivered to my PO Box, but in this case, I'd rather have the trackability.

My wife is home most days with the kids so as long as I know which day it's due all should be sweet. ;)

I think that USPS Priority Mail does not provide tracking all along the way. If I'm not mistaken, the next time that we will be able to track it is when it arrives to our countries and the sytem of our postal office gets updated.

Crisis averted! The third batch of them that was being held up in customs is set to deliver by 3pm today. So they'll get checked in and shipped out without much delay at all in the overall fulfillment.

Just want to reiterate that there's no button that gets pressed and all 5,000 are shipped at once.... We're going to get through all the orders as quickly as possible, but even if all the CEs arrived at the same time, there's still no chance they could have gone out in a single day.

Halfway there.... But our status changes when the label is printed and the package is moved to the pick-up area. They're not necessarily picked up and actually being shipped to you guys yet, but everything's moving along so far.

This is needlessly complicated:

Our fulfillment company has a series of statuses associated with your shipments. The results of the Where's My Stuff page (http://treehousebrandstores.com/wheresmystuff/) are based entirely on that status, as was my comment about half of them being shipped.

When that status gets to "Shipped" it means that they're done with it, but it doesn't necessarily mean the shipping company has picked it up and starting moving it towards you. This is why your tracking number can seem out of sync for a while or not show anything at all when you look it up.

In my mind, "Shipped" means it's actually on a truck somewhere, but in our case it just means that's the next thing that will happen and it could be really really soon, or it could be up to a few days later (MSI doesn't pick up every day, etc).

For extra fun, this is completely decoupled from the store's order status. Every couple hours, a script on the store asks the fulfillment company for a list of all recently shipped orders and then updates your order in the store accordingly (Processing > Paid > Shipped/Complete). We're in an ongoing battle to make this part work as well as possible, but it's a hard balance between squashing some outliers that don't end up getting marked as shipped and throwing so much extra logic into the script that the whole site is slowed down.

Add to this the trouble we've been having with emails going out when the store's status does actually go to shipped (which is why we made the Where's My Stuff page in the first place), and it's hard to know the exact "status" of an order at a given time....

Also, we don't know what happens exactly at the fulfillment center. I can look up orders and see which of their statuses the order is currently in, but I can't know when an order will ship--only whether or not anything looks like it will prevent it from shipping if it hasn't already.

TL;DR - Your order may be shipped even if you didn't get an email. If it is "shipped" it may take a day or more to actually start moving and be trackable. If it isn't shipped, I can't know when it will. Since only half of them have even nominally "shipped", it's not necessarily a problem if yours hasn't....

You might not be able to see it, but only half of the engraved symbols had the red coloring on them and even the one's that did looked only half done. I just feel like i got a rushed half-assed version of the marker for my 2239 numbered box.

I just got mine. It's really nice, but I'm super disappointed with the way they packed the posters in the tube. My posters are pretty much trashed. Well maybe trashed is a little harsh, but they have a bunch of big, nasty permanent creases. The posters are certainly not suitable for display at this point. For some reason, they decided to roll the posters in an S shape, and when they did that, they ruined the posters. I'm not gonna lie, I'm pissed. Hopefully they'll replace them for me, but I'm not holding my breadth; especially if this is the way they rolled all of them.

While the posters certainly don't want to stay flat, they don't seem to have any creases due to the way they were packed

Yours were rolled cleanly; like a single clean roll? No S shape? If that's the case, then maybe I did just get a bad set.

only avail on eBay now at double+ the price plus $100 to Australia. These eBay sellers aren't even fans and ea/visceral inadvertantly have these people the deal of a lifetime by having no limit on how many per customer, should have been max 1 or 2 per customer and every REAL fan would have ended up with one, but now there's hundreds of them out there that'll be filtered out via eBay over the next year for $100's more.
I don't think this was intentional on visceral's end, but a costly mistake for the oldschool fans who don't use social media, I was calling my local EB twice a week asking for a TRUE DS3 CE with no luck, then suddenly I hear "ds3 dev CE sold out 13 days ago", devistated. Congrats to all the people who were fast, it's the best CE I've ever laid eyes on! :)

MortalMonday, I would ask for replacements. My posters were rolled normally, no creases. I remember reading on this thread that they made more than 5000 of some of the items (Ex: Posters, Cards) because they couldn't get just 5000 made. Ryan himself made a post about it. I would definately message him and ask, should be no problem to get free replacements. I understand you're pissed, I would be too, but unfortunately shit does happen :(.

The problem is that I keep getting defective stuff from Treehouse, and I don't want them to think that I'm a nuisance when I keep asking for replacements. This just sucks any way you look at it. I've asked for so many replacements. Just last week they sent me a replacement for the jacked up Mass Effect Homeworlds book they mailed me. :(

If they send you replacements all the time, they realise it's their fault, and/or want to make you happy. Either way, don't feel like a nuisance to them. Treehouse seems like a company devoted to customer service, especially Ryan who I can't thank enough. Ask for the replacement(s) and know you're in the right. This box was specifically made for collector's (ie: Us here at this forum) and it should be mint condition, period.

The posters were the one thing I was looking forward to most too (I'm a sucker for videogame-related posters.) Damn shame. :(

i don't think you were the only one though, i spotted a listing on eBay where the listing stated that they were listing it for $250 instead of $300 as posters has "slight creasing"

yeah, i got an email and the order confirmed page. i'm mainly afraid i might show more than 2 qty on the stores backend as i had 2 failures when i was pressing the checkout button at the end of the process. on the third attempt i pressed checkout and the order confirmation immediately popped up.

Hey ryan, something that called my attention compared to the mass effect items. Why you guys released the dev team, the artbook and the watch in the same month aprox? not everyone can pay 430 dollars (without shipping cost) all of a sudden.

The pre orders for the N7 watch were open several months in advance, same for the mass effect artbook or ME items in general, but I don't know if the dev team and the artbook were teased a month or more before the release date.
