Well in other news (IGN): LUKE KARMALI wrote "Nintendo has delayed its upcoming Gold Mario amiibo from March 20 to April 8, according to reports.

Several Twitter users who pre-ordered the Walmart-exclusive figure have received emails suggesting they'll have to wait that little bit longer."

Edit: Walmart confirmed this to be wrong. This never happened.

I can't find the wave 4 amiibo preorders anywhere and this is actually causing a little bit more stress than I ever expected. I will definitely stop collecting these amiibo. They should be called enemiibo instead.

You make a good point they literally make a limited amount of their items which make them more valuable. That's a good and bad thing that Nintendo has done for itself. But for us collectors that don't manage to get their limited items:tumbleweed:

Whatever their decision is, it's very stupid and has been very discussed throughout social websites. Making something this limited will not please fans at all. It's just causing them trouble to get the figurines and supporting resellers. This will end up in multiple situations:
- people having incomplete collections
- people quitting collecting them or buying different waves in the future
- nintendo doesn't make the same profit it could be doing, only resellers do
- many fans will pay good cash for the sold out figurines and those same fans probably won't be buying more if Nintendo ever decides to release more stock later.

This is not the type of item that should be limited. It's not a limited edition console or game. This is the type of item that should be mass produced because everyone wants them, even those who say they don't. Nintendo is just making a bunch of bad decisions lately and that only upsets costumers in general once they start to lose the patience from constantly trying to get the new waves. If they didn't have the capability of responding to demand, they should have tested the market differently, and not start with a roost of nearly 50 characters to release in Amiibo format, over half of which will become a nightmare to get because Nintendo thinks they are not interesting or popular enough - wrong!

On a second note, the Toad Amiibo is again available at Amazon.fr for 12.99, and so is the Mario Party 10 + Mario Amiibo pack. I hope I'm actually helping people here and not just scalpers.

Also, NOA tweeted yesterday that the Mario standalone amiibo (from the SMB series) will be available 4/3/15 for those who didn't want the "bundle".

@Fox: Just walk in there and say "I'd like to place a web-in-store pre-order for the new amiibos." You have to pay in full for web-in-store orders. "web-in-store" is the keyword. And it will be wave 4 and the Splatoon amiibo preorders going live tomorrow, not wave 5. :)

In other news, I've been able to procure a few Gold Mario amiibos for you guys. I can sell them each for $20 plus shipping to any established members who need one for their personal collection. The extra $7.01 is for gas money cuz I had to drive so far to find them. International shipping is no problem. Just let me know. :)

I was really hoping that GS would've opened them last night as I had a manager friend of mine willing to put a WIS order in for me, but today she's not on and with all the hype/preptime I imagine there's going to be a line, so unlikely she'll be able to get one in.

Looks like I'm going to sit by with 1-click turned-on and 5 tabs on Amazon, one tab for GS, and one tab for Target (Jigglypuff exclusive). Haven't heard if TRU is doing online POs for Greninja though yet... that'll be another tab. :banghead:

I had 2 browsers open just in case my wife was busy with the kids and was able to text her to get the PIN (didn't realize I needed that for the redcard) and got an order through with Chrome. Unfortunately it was the wrong address, so hopefully that doesn't pose an issue.

Got Ness at GameStop web-in-store after waiting an hour and fifteen minutes in line. Actually I got there 45 minutes early so make that 2 hours. Right when my order was going through the employee manning the other register announced Robin and Lucina were now sold out. Crazy, considering the servers were crashed right at 2:00 and didn't come back up for at least an hour.

Glad to hear you all got Ness - was sweating trying to get a second one for you guys on here and one person in particular who asked about it (you know who you are). I left with just the Ness though (well and a minty Fire Emblem game someone had just traded in).

I was considering doing the whole amiibo bundle just in case, or the Splatoon bundle, but I think I'll end up passing on Splatoon amiibo completely and hopefully BB won't cancel my Robin & Lucina & PacMan order (I cancelled my Robin & Lucina separate order that I got to help you guys out on here with them since I read that they were limiting it to 1/customer and didn't want them to cancel both). So that just leaves Greninja tomorrow and Charizard and Wario (since I didn't want to pay $11 shipping on BB for them). C'mon Amazon!

Not sure what everyone else does, but I've been fairly successful with my strategies thus far -- missing the Greninja was partly my fault for not having the backup method running (which would've at least got me him). I'm not sure just how committed and willing to do some of these you folks might be, but if it saves some fellow CE'ers some time and money, then I guess it was worth sharing:

Twitter & Push Notifications (Cell)
- Follow "amiibo news" (https://twitter.com/amiibonews) on Twitter
- Download the Twitter app to your phone and set Amiibo News to send push notifications to your phone
- Repeat for "amiibo_tracker" (https://twitter.com/amiibo_tracker) (notice the _ there)
- The tracker notifies you of any changes to Amazon currently but is modified regularly to include other sites. Amiibo News gets his sources from a bunch of other places on the internet, but is pretty timely and lots of people notify him instantly when THEY find something out. It helped me get Jigglypuff yesterday IIRC.

Browser Tips
- Next, find the direct links to whatever amiibo you're stalking and open them up on different browsers (chrome/firefox/ie etc), make sure that your account information is logged in and everything is valid as well on each one
- For Amazon, I'd recommend turning on the "one click buy" option, just click on the amiibo when they go live and worry about the payment information and all that later (since Amazon is so easy to fix if you make a mistake)
- If using chrome, download the page monitor (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-monitor/pemhgklkefakciniebenbfclihhmmfcd?hl=en) add-on (may also be available for FF, but I haven't tried it yet since FF is my primary browser).
- You can change settings on page monitor to notify you via a desktop pop-up and a sound as much as every 5 seconds for any changes to a particular page (or page element). For TRU, the entire page can be monitored, for Amazon, you'll need to target specific elements

Forum Support
-Find a few other forums that have a large population and keep a window open with the amiibo-dedicated threads (neogaf, CAG, or obviously reddit work well)

Mobile Apps
-Join any of the "Line app" groups that send alerts to your cellphone for Amiibo-related news as well (**this was what I didn't have running and since Twitter guys were asleep, I missed Greninja)

-Download any of the specific store apps (or all of them) to your mobile device and keep your information up-to-date and valid, logged in, and on the pages for the specific amiibo you're hunting

-Oh yeah, and make sure your phone is charged and you bring it with you even into the Bathroom! Can't miss a moment with these!


That's all I've got, but that pretty much covers you for being notified on the PC and on the Go for near-immediate notifications of your desired amiibo becoming available. If you work at a PC and are able to keep you phone nearby you'll know within seconds (hopefully that's long enough) of any changes for any of the major retailers and have 2 or 3 ways to order (2 browsers + mobile).

Also, you can easily turn any of these notifications off once you got your desired amiibo, so its really just for these crazy windows of pre-orders (or later if you still haven't gotten one).

This is exactly how they can keep getting away with it because your so willing to pay and it will just keep encouraging this. This is why i take my stance on amiibos I just don't have to have them right at this moment and once they demand dies down they will be easier to find. You didnt get then dont get you really do not need it that badly. Its a $12 figure that scaplers are taking advantage of do to there popularity. Once they get more supported games nintendo will probably reprint it just like they are doing with marth. Meh this just my own personal advice you didnt get the chance to get it then do not get these are just a new things scalpers will take advantage of and encouraging this will only make this get worse in the future.

Just wait till there is a massive flood of these things on ebay in a few years after people stop caring so much. Once the 3ds stop selling and wii u unless there are an future comparability for these things eventually people are not going to care so much. I agree so much with this perspective, and it's one I don't see much of among amiibo collectors. An appreciation of capitalist economics. :)

Work and get paid for 14 hours if you can do that. Comparatively, your time is more valuable than that of the people buying extras specifically for resale, who, I assure you, aren't pocketing much profit once their costs are covered (for the most part it works out to WAY less than minimum wage). Since your time is more valuable and you have the money to spend, your willingness to pay is higher than, say, a high school kid without a job. So it's more worth it to the high school kid to camp out for 14 hours to get an amiibo for $12.99 because their willingness to pay is lower and their time is comparatively less valuable.

This is the same mechanism at work with any mass produced or commodity good for sale in a capitalist economy. So yeah, unless we rise up and commandeer Nintendo's factories to ensure they produce one (or two? or...?) of each amiibo for every collector in the US (or the world? or...?) at a predetermined price point (what price? decided by who...?)...well, maybe you can already see why our little revolution wouldn't fare much better than how Nintendo's already doing. Limited resources, time, and production capacity. In a finite reality, it's way more efficient to let the market determine how many are available at different prices and convenience and cosmetic condition etc. and let people decide for themselves how many, if any, they want at any given price point.

My advice would be to decide what your own personal willingness to pay is for any given amiibo and stick to it. Factor your time searching into that. Thinking about it this way, it actually makes a lot of sense for some people who can afford it to pay above MSRP for the convenience, lower risk, and guaranteed cosmetic condition.

I think what happens is a lot of Americans see the $12.99 MSRP and feel that's the price these should be easily available at. Well, that's not how it works. Nintendo can make as many or as few as they want to and/or as many as they have the resources, time, and production capacity to produce. If what results is scarcity, MSRP goes out the window. The market sets the price. If the price is above your willingness to pay, don't buy it. If you can't afford a complete collection, given the context of supply scarcity and rabid demand, don't blame scalpers out of some sense of entitlement to MSRP. Remember, Nintendo just made that number up; they could have just as easily picked $22.99 or $129.99. As long as, in the end, there are enough sales to cover their costs and earn them a worthwhile return on investment, that's what matters, at least from a production standpoint (and from a reseller/scalper's standpoint).

Yeah, I wasn't putting it down at all, you gotta go wherever you can find 'em. NOA and our retailers haven't made it easy for us to get these over here. But I just meant from a financial and logistics stand-point, Amazon.de exports to the US have increased by thousands upon thousands with this NA amiibo-craze, and there's probably a lot less margin built into these than a steelbook or CE, so huge changes like this in a fiscal period often cause companies to make drastic changes. Just hoping we don't get cut off next fiscal period? But who knows, maybe Amazon.de actually PROFITS on their shipping charges? In which case we'd still probably see those go up as well...

Its just an observation as to how 1 product from a company can alter so many companies' behaviors.

Yeah, I wasn't putting it down at all, you gotta go wherever you can find 'em. NOA and our retailers haven't made it easy for us to get these over here. But I just meant from a financial and logistics stand-point, Amazon.de exports to the US have increased by thousands upon thousands with this NA amiibo-craze, and there's probably a lot less margin built into these than a steelbook or CE, so huge changes like this in a fiscal period often cause companies to make drastic changes. Just hoping we don't get cut off next fiscal period? But who knows, maybe Amazon.de actually PROFITS on their shipping charges? In which case we'd still probably see those go up as well...

Its just an observation as to how 1 product from a company can alter so many companies' behaviors.

I am still looking for the Gold Mario Walmart amiibo. Puts me off buying from US sellers when they have that on their listing! >.< I ordered a Zelda pocket watch off a seller. Item was sent via GSP and a few days later it was "delivered" according to my tracking. Needless to say I didn't have the item. I complained to ebay and expressed my dissatisfaction with the GSP service and they refunded me and the seller got to keep his money too. About a month later, Yodel delivered the item to me. It was in a jiffy bag in the courier's car for a while. Must have been under the seat or something. >.< Useless.

I would recommend contacting Yodel CS and checking whether they have any packages for your address. They can soon inform you of whether they have any or are advised of any coming in. 3 weeks is an awfully long time for something to be coming via the GSP. The last item I had come through it was here within 7 days... -_- I suggest giving them a call.

I contacted my local TRU about the Greninja preorders yesterday when it was announced that some other TRUs had already been scanning their cards (or some people even had gone in with the SKU beforehand, though I was tempted, I resisted that since it was pretty jerky to others who played fair). Anyway, they said that they only have 10 preorders and 3 people had called them before I did about it. Looks like I'll be getting to TRU a few hours early that Monday (the 27th) just to preorder a Greninja. After that, only need a Charizard assuming everything else comes through!

Yup, was out and was able to get one (I hope). The last time this particular store didn't get enough to fulfill their Lucario pre-orders though, so guess we'll see. The store ended up with 10 and I was 3rd or 4th in line, though the lady rang it up wrong and had to void it and re-do it, so hopefully there's no issues there either.

So, assuming that everything goes through and Target's delivery company/post delivers the Jigglypuff to my old address (rather than returning to their warehouse) I'm set for Wave 4! :banana:

Oh man! I've resisted this for so long (knowing it would sink it's teeth into me if I caved). Bought Mario Party 10 to play with the kids this weekend and I'm in deep now. If you have an Android phone download Amiibers from the Amazon app store (not Google Play), and create an account at nowinstock.net (http://www.nowinstock.net/) to get online alerts for him (and the rest of them too, why not? Pit randomly popped up on GameStop a while ago and I never expected to see him for sale at MSRP again).

Marth is getting a reprint in May so keep your eyes peeled for a preorder window or a random availability.

Ya all hard to obtain amiboo are going to be reprinted in the future. There are serveral reports that some time in the future they are all getting reprinted at least in the USA to meet the demands of customers as well as making obtaining them more fair and to try and prevent scaplping and selling out in minutes. Also there are rumors saying its possible future shipments of amiboo could be delayed so that nintendo can assure ever one is able to get there amiibo to be meeting the demand. Basically if you want your amiibo be patient and once they find a solution and talk to there retail parts the hard to obtain amiibo will return to stores.

Did pretty well to pick up a lot of these locally. Pending any damage during shipping on the others (please no!) I'm all caught up. Also managed to snag preorders for Pac-Man, Wario, the three pack for Splatoon and the separate boy and girl. Still looking for preorders on Robin, Lucina, and Charizard. Will probably have to pay over retail for the store exclusives unless I can get really lucky.

Looking forward to joining the hunt when it is in progress rather than catching up starting with wave 5.

Well, it appears that Jiggly might be available on launch (like Rosalina). You've got a good chance of getting one if you're able to get to a Target since many seem to be reporting a decent stock there (according to that lady on reddit). Greninja won't be available if you didn't preorder likely, though sometimes TRU sells these things from their eBay account -- they did it with Lucario, so there's a sliver of hope there.

I don't really care about reprint vs. original that much. Just want one of each. Though the reprints of Villager actually look better IMO. So I'll happily get one of him since he's the only one I'm missing right now.

Looks like Silver Mario was finally "officially" announced by Nintendo on their amiibo page -- release date 5/29/15 (Canada apparently had preorders last night on amazon.ca).

Also, BestBuy reportedly has stock of Meta Knight in their DCs, so should be restocking those fairly soon for anyone in NA who missed out on him before!
